Secrets never stay buried

Secrets Never Stay Buried The next morning, Blackwood Elite was buzzing. Every student whispered about Ariella and Lucien. Photos had spread across the school phone groups overnight. Vivian’s little stunt had worked—perfectly. Ariella walked through the hall with clenched fists, ignoring the stares. Her heart pounded—not with fear—but rage. Lucien caught up to her by the lockers. His expression was stormy, eyes dark with warning. “Did she do this?” Ariella spat. “She did,” he said grimly. “But it doesn’t matter who started it. What matters is what we do now.” Ariella stared at him. “We?” He nodded. “We end this. Tonight.” By nightfall, Ariella and Lucien stood outside Black Enterprises headquarters. The truth waited inside—the files, the evidence, everything connected to her parents’ murder. Lucien’s hand brushed hers. “Ready?” She swallowed hard. “I was born ready.” Inside, they moved quickly, breaking past security and reaching the main office. Ariella’s hands shook as she rifled through folders labeled in her father’s handwriting. Then she found it: the signed papers, the transactions, the hidden account… and her mother’s final correspondence. Her chest tightened. “It’s all here. All the proof.” Lucien stepped forward. “This is him—my father. He can’t hurt anyone else after this.” Ariella nodded, tears slipping down. Rage and relief collided in a single heartbeat. The following morning, the news hit Blackwood Elite and the city like a storm. Lucien’s father was arrested. Black Enterprises was frozen pending investigation. Students whispered in awe, fear, and admiration. Vivian avoided Ariella, her power gone. Ariella sat under her favorite tree, Lucien beside her, both silent. She didn’t know what to say first. Finally, she whispered, “I came for revenge…” Lucien leaned closer, brushing a strand of hair from her face. “…And you found something better.” Ariella smiled faintly, finally feeling the weight lift from her chest. “And what about us?” she asked. He shrugged, half-smile breaking through his usual mask. “We’ll figure it out… together.” The rain began to fall softly, washing the city clean. For the first time, Ariella felt peace—not from revenge, but from surviving it. And maybe… from loving the enemy who was never really the enemy.
