Chapter 3

Sophia stood frozen, her heart aching as she watched Rose walk gracefully down the aisle, holding their father’s arm. The wedding dress Rose wore was one Sophia had painstakingly designed for herself, now adorning her sister. The familiar melody of Forever in Love with You, a song Sophia had composed for her dream wedding, drifted through the air. It was now being played for another couple— Rose and Ethan. Sophia’s chest tightened as she saw the joy and love on their faces when they exchanged vows. The words “I do” felt like daggers piercing her heart repeatedly. When the couple sealed their union with a kiss, it was almost unbearable. After the ceremony, the newlyweds stepped onto a platform where a swarm of reporters eagerly awaited them. Cameras flashed, and questions poured in. “Goddess Lane, congratulations on your wedding!” a reporter began, their voice laced with excitement. “We wish you a lifetime of happiness. You look absolutely stunning in that enchanting wedding gown. Everyone is curious—was this masterpiece designed by LX?” Rose flashed a dazzling smile, her hand tightly gripping Ethan’s. “Thank you for your kind wishes,” she said warmly. “And yes, this gown is indeed an LX design.” The crowd buzzed with intrigue as another reporter chimed in, “Goddess Lane, have you met LX? Can you tell us anything about this mysterious designer?” Rose’s smile grew wider as she prepared to respond, but Ethan placed a gentle hand on her shoulder. “Let me handle this, darling,” he said, planting a tender kiss on her forehead. Turning to the reporters, he confidently announced, “The mysterious LX that everyone is so curious about is none other than my talented wife, Rose.” Gasps and murmurs of astonishment rippled through the crowd. “No wonder all the exquisite LX designs are always worn by Goddess Lane!” “She’s not just a brilliant actress but also a gifted designer!” “What a perfect match—Mr Carter and Goddess Lane truly belong together!” Another reporter stepped forward, microphone in hand. “Young Master Carter, how does it feel to marry our beloved Goddess Lane?” Ethan wrapped an arm around Rose and gazed at her with an adoration that seemed almost rehearsed. “She’s everything I could ever dream of,” he said with a smile. “I love her more than words can express.” The crowd applauded, their cheers and praise ringing loudly, but for Sophia, every word felt like salt rubbed into an open wound. She stood in the shadows, unnoticed, her dreams shattered and her heart heavy with unspoken pain. Sophia stood motionless, her heart sinking as she watched Rose glide down the aisle, arm in arm with their father. The sight of Rose in the wedding dress Sophia had painstakingly designed for herself was a cruel reminder of the betrayal she was enduring. The soft melody of Forever in Love with You, a song Sophia had composed for her own wedding day, floated through the air.
