CHAPTER FIVE

She stared into his piercing blue eyes; his gaze was sharp— it did not help that they looked at her pleading for a closer proximity. The tingling she felt as she ran her hands down his thighs. She remembered the way his body had reacted beneath her touch—controlled, but not untouched. The restraint. The quiet tension. The thought lingered, heavy, unmoving. “Elena?” She didn’t respond. “Miss Elena?” The voice called sharper this time, pulling her out of her daydream. She blinked, the boardroom coming into focus—the long-polished table, the expectant faces and his piercing blue eyes watching her. She was sure they were waiting for an answer to the question she didn’t hear. “Would you please repeat the question?” she asked in a small voice, embarrassed by her distracting thoughts. There were some shocked faces and murmurs in the room and Adrian did not seem offended by this. Instead, he looked rather amused. “Miss Elena, where is the report from the London branch?” he asked. “Oh, it would be sent in today.” She quickly replied. The rest of the meeting went in a blur. Adrian was the first to leave while others followed. Elena was packing up when she got a text on her phone. “How can I serve my queen today?” Elena’s cheeks turned red as read the text from Adrian. It had been a week since the arrangement. In these short periods she had come to know a couple of things about him—thanks to their Q and A sessions. She paused to send him a reply. “Are you ready for me?” Before she could go back to what she was doing, he sent a reply. “I am all yours, tell me where and when.” “I await your orders.” She let out a small laugh, not believing that this was the same Adrian she just saw at the meeting. “Oh, come on. Not now, you could get me fired.” “My queen, no one can fire you, I am all set in my office.” “Alright, get on your knees before I get there.” “Your wish is my command.” She quickly packed up the files and left for the office. She opened Adrian’s door, and, of course, she found him kneeling—eyes pleading, waiting for her orders. She moved until she was standing directly in front of him. “The last time we saw you, I told you not to wear underwear,” she said firmly. “Yes, my queen.” He replied without hesitation. “And did you obey?” “Yes, my queen.” “Hmm, I was hoping you’d disobey. I was really looking forward to punishing you.” She lifted his head up with her finger and bent down to his eye level, she looked at his eyes for a moment. “Since you’ve been such a good boy, one kiss.” For a second, he didn’t move. As if he needed to be sure she meant it. His gaze lingered on her lips, then it moved back to her eyes—searching, waiting to hear she was pulling his legs. When she remained still, he finally gave in. He moved his lips closer, he paused—he felt her steady breath on his face “Are you sure my queen?” He mumbled. She gave no answer, she just stayed still. That was enough permission for him. He kissed her like he’d been holding it back for too long—careful at first, like he didn’t want to ruin it… and then not careful at all. For a moment, she forgot to think. Forgot the rules. Forgot who was supposed to be in control. *** “So, what part of you do you never let anyone see?” They were finally sitting on the couch for their little Q and A session. “The part that hesitates.” A brief pause. “Out there, I don’t get to hesitate. I decide, and people follow. There’s no room for doubt.” His gaze steadies. “In here… that part exists.” She watched him for a bit looking for any sign of discomfort, when she found none, she continued. “Have you ever refused a command before?” “Yes.” He doesn’t explain immediately. “When the intent was wrong.” A pause. “Control without understanding isn’t something I respond to.” There was a little bit of silence before she continued. “OK, here is my final question. You can ask yours after this.” He lifted his brows in surprise. “Are you sure?” He asked. “Yeah, but you get to ask just two.” “Alright, as you wish.” He agreed. “The last question, after this… do you go back to being the same man in the office?” “I don’t.” A quiet pause follows. “I return to being who I need to be.” His expression doesn’t change. “But it’s easier… after this.” A brief silence followed, “Alright, your turn” she said, trying to lighten the mood. He stared at her for a moment before he spoke. “Why did you say yes?” Elena didn’t answer immediately. Her fingers brushed lightly against her arm, like she was grounding herself. “At first?” she said quietly. “I needed the money.” She didn’t look away when she said it. “I won’t pretend that wasn’t part of it.” A small pause followed. “But if it was just that… I would’ve walked away after the first day.” Her gaze lifted fully to his. “I said yes because…” She hesitated—just slightly. “You trusted me with something you don’t let anyone see.” Another pause. “And I wanted to understand it.” He gave a slight nod, before he asked the next one. “Do you see me differently now?” Elena let out a small breath, like she hadn’t expected that question. “Yes,” she said. A pause. “But not in the way you think.” She shifted slightly, studying him. “I thought I had you figured out before.” “Cold. Controlled. Untouchable.” Her lips curved faintly—not quite a smile. “Now… I think you’re just very good at carrying things no one else sees.” She held his gaze. “You’re still the same man in that office.” A slight tilt of her head. “I just know now that’s not all you are.”
