**Chapter 83: Won the Cabbage Lottery**

Jiang Tingyun let out a long sigh. Whatever — money was just an external thing. She was just grateful to have gotten rid of that weirdo. After the lunch rush died down and she finally had a moment to breathe, a thought hit her. Oh right — she had Xiao Li's WeChat. Heh heh. She could get the money back. She quickly pulled out her phone and sent Xiao Li a message. > **Jiang:** Xiao Li, about that meal money... 🙈 A moment later, her phone buzzed like crazy. Several messages popped up all at once. > **Chosen Employee Xiao Li:** Transfer sent. > **Chosen Employee Xiao Li:** Help help help! Boss Jiang, I totally forgot! > **Jiang:** Received. > **Jiang:** Heh heh, no worries. > **Chosen Employee Xiao Li:** And Boss Jiang, sorry about today. My boss was really out of line. Then Xiao Li sent her a string of emojis — a little dog getting rained on, a little dog sobbing. Haha. Where did Xiao Li find so many funny stickers? Jiang Tingyun saved them all and replied cheerfully. > **Jiang:** No problem. Let him be pushy. I can't be bought. > **Chosen Employee Xiao Li:** Bitter bitter. My boss says since he can't hire you, he's decided to stay at Fenghuang Temple a while longer. So tomorrow — tomorrow I can't go home! I want to eat meat! > **Jiang:** ...Well, you could always quit and come work at Qionghua Eatery. Pay isn't great, but meat is unlimited. > **Chosen Employee Xiao Li:** Hehe. I'll pass. Xiao Li exited WeChat and opened Alipay to check his balance — hoping to lift his spirits. He counted the digits — one, two, three, four, five, six. Then he counted them again several times, couldn't help snickering. *Make money, make money, make money! It's all about making money!* Maybe because he'd eaten so many radishes today, his intestines were rumbling like crazy. His boss had gone to take a bath anyway. He wasn't around. Xiao Li lifted his rear end and let loose. Ah! So satisfying! *Swoosh* — the door opened. Yun Tingyi walked in, steam wafting off him. "Why does it smell a little?" Xiao Li quickly stood up guiltily and opened all the windows and doors. "Maybe it's because we didn't air the place out today. Too stuffy." Yun Tingyi was about to say something else when he stopped short. His own stomach let out a series of loud gurgles. Not good. "I need to use the bathroom." --- That whole afternoon, Xiao Li kept sneaking little lifts of his rear. Yun Tingyi kept running to the bathroom. "Is Young Master Yun having diarrhea?" Xiao Li wondered. That couldn't be right. Qionghua Eatery's hygiene was definitely up to standard. And why was he so fast? Felt like he was back out in less than two minutes. *Bladder issues?* Every time Young Master Yun went into the bathroom, Xiao Li would take advantage and sneakily let loose too. Ah! Satisfying! Those radishes from Qionghua Eatery really did the job! The gas-relieving effect was amazing — so relieving! His intestines were cleared out nice and smooth. Jiang Tingyun herself hadn't eaten that many radishes. She still hadn't realized that the radishes she grew seemed to have a much stronger gas-relieving effect than store-bought ones. --- Meanwhile, at Haicheng University. Chen Jialiang stared at his Weibo notification in disbelief. "Holy s**t! I won! I actually won!" He shot upright in bed, practically vibrating with excitement. His roommates, caught up in his energy, crowded around him. "What? What? What'd you win?" "Win what — did Jialiang strike it rich?" Chen Jialiang burst out laughing. "Hahahahahahaha! I won a cabbage in the lottery." "......Pfft." "Man, we thought you won a new phone or some cash." With a collective *tsk*, his roommates scattered. Chen Jialiang laughed and shook his head. "You don't get it. This isn't ordinary cabbage." "The blogger said it was super delicious, mind-blowingly good cabbage! I'm so curious. Heh heh — I'll DM him my address. If it's not good when it gets here, I'll expose his fraud on Weibo." The blogger replied quickly. Within no time, he said the cabbage had been sent — express delivery. And it really was fast. The next day, Chen Jialiang got a call. When he picked up the package, his jaw dropped. It was just a cabbage. But it was vacuum-sealed, packed in an exquisite big box, padded with foam to prevent damage. "Damn. They packed a cabbage this well." Chen Jialiang carefully cut open the packaging. The cabbage was in great shape. Apart from the outermost leaves being a little wilted, it still looked fresh. "No idea if it's actually good. And I can't cook in this dorm." He looked around. His roommate Ermao was secretly cooking instant noodles in a little pot. "Fancy — using a pot for instant noodles. Hey Ermao, you gotta eat your veggies. I'll add some for you." He couldn't be bothered to wash it. He tore off the wilted outer leaves, then ripped several of the fresh, crisp inner leaves into the pot. "Thanks, bro." "Save me some of the broth then." They sat there waiting for the cabbage to cook. Soon, a special, delicate fragrance filled the air. It was weird. Instant noodle seasoning packets have a pretty strong, dominating aroma. And this was curry beef flavor — notoriously fragrant. But this strange, light scent cut right through the seasoning and stubbornly found its way up their noses. "That smells amazing. That's weird — cabbage doesn't usually have much smell, does it?" Ermao sniffed dreamily. "Forget waiting. Let's eat." He gave Chen Jialiang a couple bites of noodles, some cabbage leaves, and a few spoonfuls of broth. Chen Jialiang was hungry anyway. He didn't stand on ceremony. He took the bowl and dug in. One bite, and he realized — this cabbage really did taste way better than anything you could buy! The greens were incredibly tender. The lower parts were crisp and juicy. There was a special, delicate fragrance. Even though they hadn't cooked it properly at all — just thrown it into curry beef noodle soup — the cabbage absorbed a bit of the curry flavor and became even more uniquely delicious. "So good!! This cabbage — seriously good!" Ermao had his head down, eating hard too. He wasn't even fishing for noodles anymore — he was going straight for the cabbage. "This cabbage really is amazing. Where'd you get it? That lottery thing from yesterday?" "Yeah, from the lottery. Damn it — I was totally wrong to mock the blogger the other day. This cabbage is genuinely delicious. If I had any writing talent, I'd write a whole essay about it too!" Chen Jialiang finished his portion but still wasn't satisfied. He reached over and snagged a few more pieces straight from Ermao's pot. "Stop stealing, stop stealing!" Ermao shielded the pot with both arms. He wasn't giving up any more. Chen Jialiang pulled out the remaining cabbage leaves. "Move aside — I've still got this much. Let's keep cooking."
