Early the next morning, 18-tier celebrity Xu Zijun went straight into the bathroom.
After he did his business, he pulled out his scale, stripped down to just his underwear, took several deep breaths, and carefully stepped onto the scale.
"Holy crap! Haha!! Didn't gain weight!!!" Xu Zijun stared at the display on the scale, almost unable to believe it. He excitedly slapped his own thigh.
"Nice! Looks like my two hours at the gym last night really paid off!"
Xu Zijun was over the moon. He had thought that after suddenly eating so much, and all high-calorie stuff too, he'd definitely be at least a pound or two heavier today. But when he stepped on the scale, he hadn't gained any weight at all—he'd even lost a little.
He couldn't help doing a happy little spin. What did this prove? It proved that dieting wasn't about starving yourself!
He could eat some farmhouse food like a normal person, then hit the gym, and lose weight easily.
Xu Zijun felt totally reassured. He made up his mind: whenever he had time, he'd sneak over to Qionghua Eatery again. The food there was way too good. If he didn't have money, he'd just run a tab. That owner was super nice anyway, and she knew him.
...
The owner who was considered super nice, Jiang Tingyun, was eating watermelon.
After so many days of scorching heat, the storm had finally arrived. The sky and earth seemed connected by a curtain of rain. Droplets pounded the dry soil.
The heavy rain continued until nearly noon and still hadn't stopped. With rain this heavy, there definitely wouldn't be any business. Jiang Tingyun took the chance to relax, eating watermelon and scrolling through videos.
This was the good life.
Local watermelons were very sweet. Even though they had a lot of seeds, the flesh was crisp, tender, and juicy. Jiang Tingyun even gnawed the white rind clean.
Next year, she definitely had to cultivate the remaining fields at the foot of the mountain and plant some melons and fruits. And before the trees budded after winter, she'd buy some fruit trees to plant too. Then she'd have all the fruit she wanted, she thought to herself.
But this relaxation didn't last long. By the afternoon, the rain still hadn't let up, and Jiang Tingyun started to get anxious.
"Damn it. When it rains, it pours—literally," Jiang Tingyun said, grabbing a big hat and hurrying down to the vegetable garden.
The rain was too heavy. If it kept up, the garden would really get flooded.
A lot of the vegetables could have stayed in the ground for another couple of days, but if the rain continued, they'd get waterlogged and rot, and the flavor would become bland.
In the pouring rain, her vision blurred, but her speed didn't suffer. She frantically harvested fruits and vegetables, basket after basket, carrying them into the dining hall.
Then she dug drainage ditches, laid down plastic sheeting, and propped up broken branches and young seedlings with sticks.
After she had done all she could, Jiang Tingyun finally relaxed a little. Farming really was a profession that depended on the heavens.
If she hadn't awakened her talent, she felt like she never could have managed so much land.
She couldn't help feeling respect and sympathy for old-time farmers. She silently wished for good weather this year.
When she got back inside and looked at the piles of vegetables and fruits all over the floor, new worries set in.
Even though the eatery's consumption was high now, harvesting this much at once—there was no way to use it all up in time.
She checked the weather forecast. The next few days would probably still be bad. Restaurant business would definitely be affected too. It would be such a waste if the vegetables spoiled.
Jiang Tingyun thought for a moment, then pulled out her phone.

She hadn't originally planned on selling vegetables directly. On one hand, her own restaurant already used a lot.
On the other hand, these vegetables had taken a lot of her effort. She didn't want to sell them too cheap. But this wasn't a big city—there were still only a few people willing to pay a premium for good vegetables.
But if she processed them into dishes, she could multiply the price.
However, most people in the group had eaten her vegetables before. They should understand how delicious they were.
Sure enough, soon the group chat was pinging with replies.

Jiang Tingyun looked at the messages and breathed a sigh of relief. It looked like these vegetables weren't going to go to waste.
