Later that afternoon, when Carter returned home from guard duty at the south border of the territory, he was surprised to see Allie’s Supra in his driveway. Sarah hadn’t mentioned anything about Allie coming over after her appointment. He didn’t think much of it because Allie was always welcome, but something inside him felt off about that day.
When he unlocked the front door and went inside, he was stunned by a sudden punch to the face.
“Whoa!” Carter ducked just in time. Although it wouldn’t have hurt him at all, he could tell by the speed it was coming at him that it wasn’t Sarah who had thrown it. He stood up and saw a fuming Allie glaring at him with her signature death glare and her hands on her hips.
“What did I do!?” Carter immediately asked.
“She knows,” Sarah soft
