Chapter 30
"So, what are you going to do about Aurelius?" Carter asked.
"I honestly have no idea," Sarah replied.
The conversation had begun the previous night. After Lucas left, Carter found Sarah still awake on the living room couch. When he asked what was wrong, Sarah explained the complex conversation she'd had with Lucas.
Once Sarah had detailed everything, Carter understood why she was so troubled. Though not a pack member at the time, Carter had been part of the final battle. He explained to her how that night—and the subsequent betrayal by lifelong pack member Hank—had changed many people and influenced the way Dorian and Allie ran the pack. Carter agreed with Lucas: using Hank and Casey as an example for such harsh punishment crossed a line.
