Later that night, after everyone got home, Sarah was exhausted from the day. Even though she didn’t accomplish any real work, she was more tired from the dozen conversations she had with her new team. Lucas had expected the Events and Logistics team to be welcoming, but he was even more surprised at just how friendly they were.
So much, in fact, he thought some of them were even faking it just to get on Sarah’s good side because of her family connection with Allie. Lucas could admit to being cynical at times, especially when dealing with office politics and the subtle jockeying for favor that he often witnessed. The collective cheers and the overly enthusiastic reception, even for the catered lunch, struck him as slightly suspicious.
