Monty Lerouk POV:
We had one mission tonight and it was to capture the red haired she-devil. She was Vince's mate and I knew such a move would hurt right where I needed it to.
Savanya, my witch friend, was in the car with me.
‘I can feel her power, she’s not only a hybrid. There’s something else radiating off her. Something familiar.’ She said.
‘We will go in at night, you’ll have all your answers my friends.’ I said.
Vince POV:
‘Where is she? I had her in my arms until early this morning.’ I thought to myself
What have you done now? You made her feel like you could take care of her and now who knows if she’s in danger. My wolf said
Shaking my head, I knew I had to focus on one thing.
Her scent. It was still strong and that could only mean that she was not far.
I had the security detail go round and have everyone search their own quarters. All to no avail.
Even Bella was on edge.
But something else was wrong, actually two other things. Mother was also no where to be found. My personal scouts had mind linked me to report the presence of vampires camped in the nearby woods south of the district.
This really didn’t feel like a coincidence.
Bella walked up to me and said what we were both thinking. ‘Do you think Mother has something to do with this?’
I looked and her and she knew I thought the same too. But why would she go to the vampires? Of all people.
6 hours later
It was obvious the vampires were waiting for something. I had Ovaro go speak with them and find out what they were doing so close to Werewolf turf while I searched for Lexa before whatever this s**t show was got started.
I thought back to what happened last night and remembered something that had been hovering at the back of my mind since morning. Lexa mumbling something and that was the last moment before her scent left my side.
‘........the other cabin’, I said aloud.
We had searched the woods thinking she had maybe tried to transform by herself and hadn’t checked one place. And now that I thought about it, it made sense that she would go there.
I knew where Lexa was!
~ Damien Mooncliff abandoned cabin ~
Scraps of paper scattered, several books opened halfway and fragments of an item that seemed like glass and wood at the same time.
Lexa had confirmed through Damien’s journals that Alan Delovanc was his best friend. A hybrid. The first.
‘Born into a witch cavern, part werewolf. His genetic alteration was first worshipped and then later called an abomination. However his wolf side manifested when he clocked 18 and so he was able to identify his mate, a witch.
A powerful one. Trish Stake.
Together they were unstoppable, Alan was revered as a being chosen by both the Moon Goddess of the Wolves and the Mother of Witches while Trish was a descendant of an original witch family.
Their union sparked envy, admiration, respect and jealousy especially from other original witch families. One in particular, the Vatinkas.
Trish gave birth to a girl. Her name Alexandria Delovanc.’
Lexa closed her eyes as tears formed. She never knew her parents, she had grown up with crazy people who treated her like an outcast.
‘The Vatinkas shared a prophecy that Alan would go dark. They questioned the source of his divinity and managed to turn the witch cavern against him. The godlike hybrid soon became a villain in the eyes of others as the prophecy said Alan and his descendants were going to take over the clans.
For the first time in history, the witches asked for the help of wolves and inevitably vampires and a few powerful humans. A council was created to scourge the world of Alan and his offspring. The Grey Ones.
I, Damien Mooncliff, was appointed the leader of the clan. Accepting this was the biggest mistake of my life. I betrayed my best friend.
I watched as Alan and Trish were cursed and banished from the clans...in order to prevent the prophecy from manifesting. But instead, we were only instruments that pushed it even closer to reality.
Alan’s daughter, Alexandria, according to the prophecy was the key to the prophecy and so she was cursed.
The Blood Curse.
I didn’t expect that. It was extreme. The look in Alan’s eyes when our eyes met made my core break. I had not only destroyed his life but also his daughter.’
Lexa’s tears were uncontrollable. She was distraught. She wondered if Vince knew about this and didn’t tell her. His family ruined hers.
She was about to close the journal when the last entry in the journal caught her attention.
‘I tried to redeem myself, I helped Alan and his family escape and earned a punishment of my own. The witch in the council cursed my son, Vince with the warlock’s curse.....because I helped them escape and to ensure I never saw them again. The curse would awaken the moment Vince met Alexandria.
Now it has become my life’s purpose to find a way to free him of it and ensure they never meet.’
The door suddenly opens.
‘Lexa, I’ve been looking all over fo-‘ Vince stopped mid sentence as he saw Lexa in tears surrounded by his Father’s journals and research books.
‘Vince, we’re both cursed. I’m the reason you have those headaches. The Warlock’s curse. I did that to you...those headaches... your family betrayed mine..my dad knew yours..’
She started to hyperventilate.
Vince ran to hold her and immediately was hit with a wave.
Shit! His headache was back.
