Everyone has secrets

Aria Mooncliff POV: Her eyes. They looked oddly familiar. There was a dash of red in her pupils so subtle that  you could miss it if you didn't look close enough, making her appear to have blue and red eyes. Is the prophecy coming true? Damien died to ensure Vince never found his mate. Tears welled up in her eyes as she thought back to her late husband's dying words. "The cursed must not mate. It will be both their undoing and ours." "Do not let him find her...." A secret I have lived with for the past 18 years, watching my son, my precious boy, long for his mate. Unable to tell him, I knew where she was. An idea of who she was. But Damien paid the ultimate price and now all I had to do was make sure he never found her. I failed. She might as well be right under his roof at the moment. I looked into her eyes and all I saw were those of a scared young girl, although powerful but clearly yet to discover the full extent and implication of her existence. My motherly instincts wanted to tell her everything would be alright but fate has other plans for her and my son. What if it's not her? Vince found her in the deeper parts of the forest running...she could be anyone. But I had this gut feeling. Even her scent was different. She was a wolf no doubt but there seemed to be something else. Vince's curse is also awakening. Judging from the blast he felt back at the forest, although it only lasted for a few minutes and eased as soon as she touched him, it can only mean that her presence triggered it but her touch stopped it. How do I stop this? I wasn't even sure i wanted to. Vince hasn't looked as happy as he did the moment I saw him carry her in his arms in years  - like he had finally found a part of his missing self. But I have to stop them from being officially mated. For both their sakes. She paced around her living room for a few minutes before heading into her bedroom for the night. Vince POV: After the romantic dinner we shared at the penthouse, the way she kissed me, the look of pure happiness and contentment - I knew that was how I wanted to make her feel for the rest of her life. She had been deceived, betrayed and abandoned...I was going to spend the rest of my life making sure I replaced every horrible memory with amazing ones. I smiled.  I had made sure she slept in my master bedroom while I stayed in the next room. I didn't want her out of my sight, plus I wanted to be able to hear her gentle breathing as she slept. Thinking back to how my day had gone, I remembered the piercing headache as I walked towards the car. It was nothing like i had previously experienced. What was that? I'll go get some checkups done, I've probably been pushing myself too hard lately but now that Lexa's here. I'll take it slow to be with her. I smiled again. Anyone looking at me now would wonder if I was mad man smiling at nothing. Everyone seems to like her! Mother too, Bella for sure. Mother although looked at her funny for a bit but I'm sure its her usual cautionary self evaluating Lexa but I really don't care. I know how I feel. "Stay away from him!" , "He’s injured." I heard Lexa's frantic voice from her room and immediately I ran.  I smelt blood. “Lexa, are you alright? It’s a bad dream, you’re safe”. I looked at her face and she was still dreaming, although she was mumbling words I could make out, I could tell that the panic in her voice had gone. But there was something else wrong, her feet were soiled like she had run barefoot outdoors and there were blood stains on her night wear. I tried to wake her up but to no avail. So I carried her into my bathroom, washed her feet and carefully took off her robe. I can’t believe she was still asleep at this point. She was no longer mumbling at the moment.  After dressing her in one of my light sweatshirts, I laid her back on the bed and sat across her as she slept. She looked peaceful now but I was saddened by the fact that she had to go through so much trouble.  I already had Ovaro gather more information about who her real parents were and why they had abandoned her as well as what her abilities as a hybrid would be. I need to help her. The last thing I remember before blacking out was pain. Nerve racking, finger cringing pain that pierced through me like a needle pricking a new born baby’s feet. Lexa POV: I was dreaming again. I knew for sure. I was in a dark alley. I had never been here before. I was hungry. I could smell something and I wanted it, it smelled so good! I started running, my stomach was in chaos...I needed whatever  this  was. I would beg to have it. I was about to explode! Until I came across a man. Limping. He was running away from someone but there was blood everywhere. From his neck.  He looked scared. I kept feeling drawn to him, like he was the source of the smell driving me crazy. I heard a sound to my left and saw a man in a dark suit, with crimson eyes and fangs - Vampire, I thought! I remember the Kala Moon Pack sit around the bonfire nights and talk about our mortal enemies, Vampires. They fed on blood. The scratch or bite from a werewolf was lethal. Likewise their bites to the wolves. He was after this man, I wasn’t sure but for a moment I think I was after this poor man too. He smells soo good. I just needed a taste, to be sure. As he struggled to get away from what seemed like the both of us...he applied pressure on his neck and I knew for sure i wanted his blood. Why? I'm werewolf!  He started to beg, I looked over at the man in a dark suit. He moved one swift motion and grabbed the man by the neck to continue what he started. I rushed over and tried to pull him away....I didn’t think I had pulled so hard. I lifted him like he weighed nothing, he landed against a dumpster on the other side of the alley way. He was back up on his feet in a minute. It was as though he just noticed my presence for real now or noted me as a threat! He rushed over to me, I shouted something. I couldn’t even hear myself.  I was no longer in control of my reflexes. I never took part in the physical or combat training back at the Pack but here I was defending myself. He hit me against the brick wall, I got up and before I knew it I scratched him across the face in a mad rage that I had never felt before. His blood splashed onto my robe.  Wait, I was in my robe. I went to bed in this.  Am I still dreaming? Before I could register what had happened the vampire had run off scared. Why? I felt the wind in my hair and I realized I was levitating and started feeling a little bit disoriented. I felt strong arms on my shoulders, I could hear my name.. I could hear Vince. There was water splashing somewhere on my feet. I needed to wake up but I couldn’t. Why? As I kept trying to wake up, I heard a noise like someone growl in pain. I recognized that growl for some reason. It was my mate. Vince.  I have to wake up now!! I have to help him.  Closing my eyes and clenching my fists, I screamed with all my might and woke up.  But I was floating a considerable height from the bed...in what looked like a man’s sweat shirt. Vince laid on the floor, clutching his head.  The door opened, Aria Mooncliff, his Mother stormed in. With a panicked look on her face as she looked between me in the air and her son on the floor in pain. I dropped from the air rather ungraciously and ran to Vince. Aria stepped away from me as I approached her son as though she was afraid of me. I didn’t care. I held him and shouted for someone to call the doctor, anyone. However, within minutes Vince looked me in the eye, his eyes were a much darker shade of grey, or maybe black. Why would his eyes change color like this? Was this some kind of sickness?  I looked at Aria who was crying at the far end of the room.  “I will cleanse you, cursed one.” I looked back at Vince. He had said this and passed out. Only that he didn't sound like Vince at all. Bella and a few others from the security detail stormed in.  **Somewhere in a dark alley was an injured human man hiding behind a dumpster after witnessing what looked like two vampires fighting but she....the other vampire saved him and flew into the skies.** **At the headquarters for Vampires in Nevida, crawled in a vampire with a scar across his face. His injury wasn’t healing. “Why won’t it heal?” She was a vampire, I saw her eyes, not completely red but red all the same. Only werewolf scratches never heal.  Pulling out his phone, “Boss, we have a rogue on the loose and she’s very strong. She got the upper hand during my encounter with he-“ “Upper hand? , You mean she beat you?”, says the person on the other end of the call. He sounded annoyed.  “It’s nothing, she gave me a good scratch across my face.” The injures vampire said. “Smith, you’re telling me a girl beat you.” “Boss, that’s not the problem. I’m not healing”. Smith said. “Only a werewolf’s scratch won’t heal. I thought it was a vampire.” The Boss said “Is it possible she’s a hy-“, Smith blurted out “Those abominations don’t exist.” He said.  Anymore.  He thought. “Freshen up and come see me at noon today”, the Boss said as he ended the call. It was just a quarter past the early hours of two in the morning. Werewolves and Vampires were prohibited from cross-mating, it was illegal to both clans. If this girl’s markings don’t heal. We have a serious problem in our hands! Or a potential solution to the vampire’s power tussle with the wolves. We need to find her.
