Vince POV:
I was angry.
I took the elevator back to the doctor's quarters to check on Lexa.
So many thoughts swirling in my head. What did Lexa do to deserve this? A curse. I had Ovaro look into her family background but came up with nothing but the things her former pack members had told him.
But my own mother knows enough to say that the 'curse' is the source of my recent blackouts and migraines.
I paced back and forth the lobby of Dr. Steve's medical examination room. My mother definitely knows more than she's telling and I am going to find out. There's only one person I know that could have also known about this just like she does. Father.
Getting to the Cliff cabins now felt more important than it was a few days ago, Father's journals on his research on supernaturals and personal items were moved there for safe keeping and I was going to search for answers....for a solution to this.
'Vince, You can come in now.' Dr Steve said.
I looked at the bed and saw Lexa awake, she smiled as soon as I walked in. I rushed up to her immediately, 'How are you? Are you in pain?'
She nodded and I noticed she pulled out of my embrace. She was tearing up.
Clearing his throat, Dr. Steve said 'I think we should talk about Lexa. She asked that I said it with you present.'
'Go ahead', I said.
'After carrying out some tests, one thing I can say for sure is that Lexa's anatomy and body makeup isn't the same with an average wolf. She is wolf yes but she also has some unique blood and body features that are non-wolf. What those entities are....is still a bit of a mystery.' Dr Steve said.
'You say entities like other than wolf, there's more than one you are looking to identify.' I said.
'Yes, the tests isolated three elements. One of which we identified to be werewolf....the other two are yet to be identified. As soon as we get some other test results back, I will let you know.' Dr Steve said.
'So you're saying you don't know what I am.' Lexa said, all too calmly. I looked at her, she looked sad, very sad and I knew why.
Everything that had happened today must have reminded her of her experience at the Kala Moon Pack. I felt that sadness...my wolf could feel it.
'That means I'm actually cursed, just like your mother said and I am the cause of the recent migraines you've been experiencing. I should go back to my pack, at least they knew what I was from the start.' Lexa said while making an effort to get off the examination bed.
I rushed over, pulled her into my arms so she wouldn't fall.
'Lexa, I don't care about what my mother says or thinks. All I know is you, Lexa are the strongest, loving and most beautiful woman, wolf or not...that I've ever met. If anything you are a genetic miracle! One that should be worshipped and loved not otherwise...and no, I don't believe you are the cause of my migraines and if. If you are....baby, I will find a way. I always do. Or would rather die trying.. I love you Lexa Sinclair.'
She hugged me so tight, if it wasn't for my height I would have fallen over but i was overjoyed that she believed me and I wasn't about to let her down.
I laid her to rest properly on the bed, her eyes said everything I needed to hear. She trusts me and that's all that matters now.
'Vince, there's one more thing. Lexa will always face a black out every time those other elements clash with her wolf element. It's like a battle for which will be dominate the other...a chemical reaction going on in her bone marrow. Her wolf is infact the dominant side but she needs to transform to her wolf in order to tip the balance. Once the wolf element is fully dominant, the other elements will stop the chase and normalise.' Dr Steve explained.
'...but I've never transformed.' Lexa said in a panic
'Yes, this is where I think curses come to play. You are under a very powerful spell stopping you from transforming.' Dr Steve said.
'A spell? How can you be so sure?' I said
"because there's nothing stopping her from changing into her wolf...not biologically. She's 21. In my experience, this is where witches come to play.' The doctor said sounding genuinely concerned.
'Thank you Doc. You've been more than helpful. We will be heading to the cabins tomorrow, this will be our primary objective.' I said as I led her off the bed towards the exit.
'And Lexa, you are a very powerful werewolf all things considered. The kind of powerful that can be weaponised if certain clans should hear of this. Vince you know this much. I advise that you are very discreet about this.' Dr. Steve said as he led us out of his examination facility.
'Thank you.' Lexa said.
We got on the elevator and headed to my place.
Steve Dwoniv POV;
Being a doctor in the Mooncliff family meant being the best there was in the medical field but it also meant being able to keep secrets. Secrets that bore into your soul the moment you genuinely begin to care about the family members.
A decision I still regret to this day was to begin to care for Vince like a Nephew or God-son, it was tough love but love all the same. The boy was strong, relentless and even after his father's death unstoppable in all ramification. He had big shoes to fill and he filled them beautifully but he had a void in his heart only a mate could fill and now when it seemed he had found her.
It turns out she might as well be the end of him.
I picked up my cell phone to call the one other person who knew the biggest secret I have had to keep for the past 18 years.
'Hello Steve'. Aria's voice came from the other side of the call.
'Aria, we need to get them apart. Lexa's powers are manifesting at a faster rate and the blood tests from today confirms that the curse is active and colliding with Vince's. His warlock curse will be manifest fully in a matter of weeks if they keep staying together.' Dr. Steve said
'We go to the cabins tomorrow. I have a plan.' Aria said
'Good. I made him believe he could lift the spell that binds her from transforming into her wolf. Vince might have bought it for now, but I doubt it would take him long to know that what he needs is a witch. If he finds a witch, the truth of it all will unravel. However, pushing her to transform also means weakening her, making her an easy target should you want to extract her. I'll leave that option to you. I promised you and your husband, Damien, my loyalty on this matter but I can only carry it for so long.' Dr. Steve said
'What are you implying?' Aria said
'If nothing happens at the cabins, if Lexa comes back here for more tests. I cannot guarantee that I won't tell Vince the truth. We owe him that much.' Dr Steve said as he ended the call.
Ovaro Galesworth POV;
WTF?!
Warlock curse??
Steve and Aria weren't having an affair but were keeping a secret about Vince'a and Lexa's history. I had been monitoring their calls for months now under Vince's request to ensure his mother was safe and not being exploited or hurt. The doctor and his Mother had gotten quite close after his father died.
Picking up my phone, I called Vince.
'Boss, we need to talk. You will need to meet up in person for this.' I said.
