Dear Blue,
My only friends are animals. I’m not complaining though, because they listen to me and there’s just no other kids here to play with besides my brother, but he’s always in a mood. So I just talk to the chickens, goats and pigs.
I met you while I was picking strawberries up on the hill behind my house. You came running up like a wild animal, rearing up and stomping your hooves to scare me but you never did. The strawberries I offered you must have been too good to pass up. They were quite sweet, weren’t they?
We were quick friends and I wouldn’t have had it any other way. I enjoyed your friendship for many hours. We could run as fast as the wind and jump over anything. There was nothing that could stop us.
One of my favourite memories with you was when you bucked off my brother; I don't think he ever flown that high before. Another one is when we jumped the creek for the first time - that was so fun.
I miss you.
I miss all the fun we had running along the fence line. But I really miss just being with you. Mom says you went to a really nice farmer who's going to train you - whatever that means. She says you’re not coming back and I'm sad about that. But it’ll be okay because one day, I'll find you and we'll have more horse friends, too.
I love you, Blue.
Love, Linda.
