After her conversation with Lucas, Sapphire's phone rings, and she sees that it's a call from Athena. She answers, and Athena's voice bursts with enthusiasm. ATHENA (excited) Sapphire, guess what? We're planning a bar-hopping night with the bandmates! Are you in? Sapphire, intrigued by the idea of a night out with friends and a chance to unwind, considers the invitation. SAPPHIRE (enthusiastic) That sounds like a lot of fun, Athena. Count me in! Athena can't contain her excitement and relays the details of their plan, including the bars they'll visit and the meeting time. Sapphire agrees to meet them, hoping that this night out will provide a much-needed break from the complexities of her secret marriage with Lucas. As she ends the call, Sapphire prepares for the evening ahead, eager to join her bandmates for a night of music, laughter, and camaraderie, momentarily leaving behind the weight of her responsibilities and uncertainties at home. Sapphire receives a call from Jade, who is also excited about the upcoming night of bar hopping with their bandmates. Jade's voice is filled with anticipation. JADE (enthusiastic) Sapphire, are you joining us tonight for the bar-hopping adventure? SAPPHIRE (smiling) Of course, Jade, I'm in! Jade's enthusiasm is infectious, and Sapphire can't wait to spend time with her friends and bandmates. Then, Jade makes a suggestion. JADE (suggesting) How about I pick you up? That way, we can all get together. Sapphire pauses, considering Jade's offer. She knows that a night of bar hopping can sometimes lead to indulging in a few drinks, and safety is a priority. SAPPHIRE (thoughtful) You know what, Jade? That's a great idea. Please pick me up. It's better to be safe, especially if we're planning to have a good time tonight. Jade agrees, and they discuss the logistics of the pickup. Sapphire appreciates Jade's thoughtfulness and is looking forward to a memorable night out with her bandmates, knowing that her safety is assured as they embark on their adventure. Sapphire, dressed in a revealing dress for the night of bar hopping with her friends, finishes getting ready and heads towards the door. As she's about to leave, she's startled to find Lucas in the living room, reading a book. He raises an eyebrow at her attire. LUCAS (questioning) Where are you going dressed like that, in the late evening? Sapphire, hurt by his judgmental tone, responds with a mixture of frustration and sadness. SAPPHIRE (defensive) I thought you didn't care about what I do. Why are you asking now? Lucas, his expression stern, defends his inquiry. LUCAS (explaining) I was just asking because you're my wife, Sapphire. If something were to happen to you, it would cause trouble with your parents. Don't be selfish. Sapphire is deeply hurt by Lucas's words, feeling a sense of betrayal and anger. She retorts, her voice trembling with emotion. SAPPHIRE (teary-eyed) I'm going out with my friend, Lucas. It's not a big deal. As they continue their tense exchange, the sound of a horn honking outside interrupts them. Sapphire's face brightens, and she seizes the opportunity to leave. SAPPHIRE (hurriedly) I've got to go, Jade is outside to pick me up. Lucas, taken aback and not approving of the situation, lets out an offensive comment. LUCAS (angry) A boy? What are you thinking, Sapphire? Are you some kind of...? His derogatory remark stings, and Sapphire, feeling wounded, cuts him off. SAPPHIRE (firmly) I don't need to explain myself. I'm going out with my friends. Goodbye. With that, she walks out the door, leaving Lucas behind. As Sapphire makes her way towards the door, determined to leave for her night out with her friends, Lucas's disapproval escalates. He reaches out and firmly grasps her hand, preventing her from taking another step. LUCAS (authoritative) You're not going anywhere like this, Sapphire. Sapphire, caught off guard by his sudden physical intervention, tries to pull her hand free. SAPPHIRE (struggling) Let go, Lucas. I have plans with my friends. Lucas's grip tightens, his frustration and concern evident. LUCAS (insistent) Not dressed like that, and not with... him. Sapphire, feeling a mixture of anger and helplessness, insists on her right to go out. SAPPHIRE (frustrated) Lucas, you don't get to decide what I wear or who I go out with. I have a life outside of this house, too. Sapphire and Lucas's confrontation intensifies as he firmly holds her hand, preventing her from leaving for her night out with her friends. Just as Sapphire is about to speak up again, her phone rings. Jade's name flashes on the screen. Lucas, growing increasingly frustrated, takes the call without hesitation, answering with a curt tone. LUCAS (annoyed) What? JADE (voice from the phone) (cheerful) Hey, is Sapphire there? We're waiting outside. Lucas's irritation boils over, and he makes his point crystal clear. LUCAS (angry) Don't call my "wife." She's not coming with you. Sapphire, Jade's voice now audible from the phone, is shocked by Lucas's interference and his harsh words. The tension in the room reaches its peak as Lucas's jealousy and possessiveness take center stage, leaving Sapphire trapped in the middle of a complicated and strained situation. Lucas's anger continues to escalate as he ends the call with Jade and forcibly pulls Sapphire into her room. His grip on her hand remains tight, and his face is filled with a volatile mix of jealousy and possessiveness. LUCAS (ferocious) You're not going anywhere dressed like that, Sapphire. Change your clothes. Sapphire, her fear growing with each passing moment, gazes into her husband's face, desperately searching for a way to diffuse the situation. Her voice quivers as she makes a request. SAPPHIRE (trembling) Lucas, please... Can I at least call Jade and tell them I'm not going anymore? Lucas, still seething with anger, vehemently denies her request. LUCAS (angry) No, you're not calling anyone! Sapphire, her heart pounding with fear, is now trapped in her room, torn between her desire to go out with her friends and the volatile temper of her husband. The situation has taken a frightening turn, and she doesn't know how to navigate it without making things worse. Sapphire, in a state of distress, feels trapped as Lucas locks her in her room. Tears stream down her face, and she pleads with Lucas through the closed door. SAPPHIRE (crying) Lucas, please, open the door. Let me out! But Lucas remains unyielding, his anger having clouded his judgment. He walks away from her room and heads outside to confront Jade and the others who are waiting. OUTSIDE SAPPHIRE'S HOME - FRONT YARD - EVENING Lucas approaches Jade and their friends, his face still filled with anger and resentment. Jade, puzzled by Lucas's presence and behavior, tries to make sense of the situation. JADE (confused) Lucas, what's going on? Why are you here? Lucas, without mincing words, drops a bombshell. LUCAS (angry) We're married. Sapphire is my wife. Now leave and don't come back. Jade and the others are taken aback by this revelation, their confusion and shock evident. The revelation raises even more questions about Sapphire and Lucas's unconventional marriage and the tensions that now surround it. After Lucas confronts Jade and the others, they reluctantly leave, still reeling from the shocking revelation that Sapphire and Lucas are married. Lucas returns inside the house and unlocks the door to Sapphire's room. As the door swings open, Sapphire, her eyes red from crying, emerges. SAPPHIRE (angry and hurt) What was that, Lucas? Why did you do that? Lucas, his anger seemingly subsided, approaches her, but his tone remains stern. LUCAS (firm) Stop crying, Sapphire. You're not a baby. Sapphire, her frustration reaching its peak, can't contain her emotions any longer. SAPPHIRE (angered) I'm not a baby, and I'm not your property either! You had no right to lock me in my own room and embarrass me in front of my friends! Lucas, his expression unreadable, looks at Sapphire with a mix of frustration and something deeper, leaving Sapphire to wonder about his true feelings and motivations. Lucas, though his initial anger seems to have subsided, maintains a firm and unyielding demeanor as he delivers a set of instructions to Sapphire. LUCAS (resolute) I don't care what you think of me, Sapphire. Tomorrow morning, we will go to school together, eat together, and go home together. Sapphire is left in a state of bewilderment and confusion. Lucas's behavior and his sudden assertion of control over her life took her by surprise, leaving her with many unanswered questions and a sense of unease. As Lucas leaves her room, the tension between them lingers in the air, and Sapphire is left to contemplate the complex dynamics of her secret marriage and the challenges that lie ahead. Sapphire retreats to her room and closes the door, left in a state of bewilderment by Lucas's unexpected assertions. She sinks onto her bed, lost in thought, contemplating the tumultuous events of the evening and the challenging predicament she now finds herself in. SAPPHIRE (to herself, worried) How am I supposed to go to school with him? He's the president of the school, and I barely talk to anyone. This is going to be a huge problem. As she reflects on the complex dynamics of her secret marriage, Sapphire grapples with the uncertainties of her future, unsure of how she will navigate the intricacies of her relationship with Lucas, especially as their roles as husband and wife become more intertwined with their lives as students. Lucas POV Lucas, alone in his room, begins to feel the weight of guilt settling on his shoulders. As the anger and frustration that drove his actions earlier begin to fade, he's left with a sense of remorse for how he treated Sapphire. LUCAS (to himself, remorseful) What have I done? I shouldn't have acted that way. She didn't deserve it. The realization of his behavior and the emotional toll it took on Sapphire weighs heavily on his conscience. He knows that their secret marriage has put them both in a difficult position, but he's starting to see that his actions may only be making things worse. Lucas is left to grapple with the guilt and uncertainty of their situation, unsure of how to make amends and navigate the complicated path they've been forced to walk.
