"THE ALLEY OF FATE"

522 Words
Rohit Oberoy had seen a thousand faces in his life, but none had ever made him pause. Until her. It happened on a rainy evening, headlights slicing through the fog as Avantika—known to everyone as Avi—stepped out of her car. She looked shocked, frozen, like she had seen a ghost standing in the middle of the deserted alley. But she hadn’t seen the real danger yet. Behind her, two men—Rohit’s enemies—were running towards her car, armed and desperate. And Rohit knew one thing: if they reached her… she would be gone. He didn’t think. He just moved. Before Avi could understand anything, Rohit grabbed her waist, pulled her close, and kissed her—not softly, but fiercely, like it was the only way to hide his identity. Avi’s eyes widened in fear and confusion. When Rohit finally pulled back, she pushed him away with all her strength. That’s when he screamed. A raw, broken sound escaped his throat, and his hand flew to his chest. Blood soaked through his white shirt, revealing a deep knife wound. Avi froze. She didn’t want to see him. Didn’t want to help him. Didn’t want to be part of this stranger’s chaos. But above everything else, she was a doctor. Her instincts took over. “Sit down. Now,” she snapped, pulling him into the backseat of her car. He smirked through the pain—an arrogant, dangerous smirk—but obeyed. She cleaned the wound with trembling hands, angry at him, angry at herself for caring. Throughout the treatment, Rohit kept his eyes on her—soft, intense, almost… gentle. The kind of gaze that made her heartbeat betray her. When the bleeding stopped, Rohit touched her wrist lightly. “Thank you…" Then he left the car without another word. And disappeared. --- One Month Later Avi’s life had turned darker than she ever imagined. The surgery she performed—a risky one—ended in tragedy. The patient died, and unfortunately, he was the husband of the City Mayor. The backlash was immediate and brutal. Her license was suspended. Her reputation destroyed. The hospital she devoted her life to threw her out like she never mattered. Then came the worst blow—her mother collapsed one night. Diagnosis: brain tumour. With no job, no support, and no savings left after treatment bills, Avi took whatever work she could get—waitressing at a restaurant during the day, managing a mall counter at night. Her hands that once held scalpels now held trays and shopping bags. But she didn’t break. She couldn’t afford to. --- Somewhere else in the city… Rohit Oberoy wasn’t the type to lose things. And he definitely didn’t lose people. For one month he searched for her—through informants, street contacts, security footage. Every lead slipped away, every trace vanished. But his obsession only grew sharper. She had saved his life. She had touched him in a way nothing ever had. He wanted her. He needed her. He would find her. Even if the entire world had tried to hide her. ---
