Chapter EightA band of grey light acted as the harbinger of dawn as Lorna left the Pinnacle Hotel and breathed in the sharp air of morning. She shivered and pulled her cloak tighter around her. 'It's cold.' After many years in India, she could never get used to what was considered a warm day in Britain, let alone the raw chill of March. As always in Great Malvern, the street was busy with portly and dignified gentlemen who had come here for the exercise, the fresh spring water, and the mysterious Water Cure that Lorna resolved to investigate. Glancing upward, she followed the line of the hill ridge and moved on. If she had thought, she could have asked the stable lad to get the chaise ready, but it was too late now, and she would have to walk. She shrugged; oh well, the exercise would not
