Chapter SixLorna noticed the figure standing in the doorway opposite the Pinnacle Hotel but thought nothing of it. There were always people waiting for somebody or something or just with nothing better to do than idle their lives away. Lorna thought of the well-prepared meal she had enjoyed in the hotel, smiled and cleared her mind. She had an investigation to perform; something she had never done before and that made it all the more fascinating. Life was bright with promise and filled with challenge.
She was acting the policeman. It was evident that Lady Stanhope had some ulterior motive for wishing to find the murderer, but that was not her concern. She was earning money, and this job was as good as any other until she could find another teaching position.
