Chris's POV:
Bella told me everything, and now I feel even worse for her. I felt bad when she told me about her mom. I can't imagine what it's like to take care of your dad, who is drunk every day. They are probably always arguing. Bella's life is more complicated than I expected. I will gladly say that she is a survivor. I wouldn't handle this. Now I know why she didn't want to tell anyone. In her place, I would do the same. She is not the school's favorite girl, and it won't help her. That is why I am here. I won't leave her alone. Well, I still didn't tell her why I was doing everything, but one day I will. I just don't think that this matters now. Something that I am dreaming about is taking Bella to prom. There are at least five months until then, but I don't know how things between us will go. It might never happen, but dreaming is a good thing. No matter that we are in good relations now, I am still afraid that if I tell her everything, she will reject me. Bella is a great girl, and I don't want to lose her. She has something that the other girls don't. Every boy probably says this about the girl they like, but it's true. She makes me feel different. Around her, I can be myself, and I know that she won't judge me for anything. She is amazing, and I hope I can have a chance with her. Otherwise, I have to blame myself. After all, she doesn't know anything. I hope that no one will steal her from me before I decide to tell her how I feel.
Last night, I had dinner with Bella and my parents. Jasmine was there the whole afternoon. It was nice at the beginning. Then Bella got upset because her dad left. I told her that I would go to see her and this is what I would do today. I want to help her with her chores, so she has more free time. Maybe she could spend it with me. Who knows? I won't lie that I will be happy if she does it. Well, I have to take my sister with me, but this is not a problem. Both with Emily will play, so they won't know what we are doing.
I woke up and went to get ready. It's 8 am, and Bella is probably sleeping. I plan to go out and buy breakfast. My friend is always cooking so I want her to take a rest for once. Well, I'm sure that she'll find something to do. I know that she has a lot of work. I went to my sister's room and woke her up. She wasn't happy, but when I told her what we would do, she immediately got up. I'm glad that she has friends. Both with her went to one diner.
- What do you want us to buy?
- Can we get waffles and cupcakes? - Jasmine asked
- I'm not sure that cupcakes are for breakfast, but ok.
- Did you decide what you want? - a man asked us
- Yes. We want ten waffles and ten cupcakes.
- Here you go.
- Thank you. Bye.
Our next stop is Bella's house. I knocked on the door, and Emily opened it. She let us in, and both with Jasmine went to play. I walked into the kitchen and left the food on the table. I wonder where Bella is. I know who can tell me.
- Emily, where is your sister?
- She is in her room. I think that she is still sleeping.
- Ok, thank you.
I knocked on the door, and when there was no answer, I carefully opened it. Bella sleeps cute. She probably waited for her dad last night. Who knows when he came home? I laid next to Bella, trying not to wake her up. Waking up next to her is something that I would die for. Not really, but I would be happy. I wanted to touch her, but I was afraid she might wake up. In that case, I can only watch how she is sleeping. Some people say that it's creepy, but when my girl is sleeping like an angel, I can't resist. Moreover, I won't do anything to her. Soon she woke up and looked at me surprised.
- Good morning.
- What are you doing in my room and my bed?
- I just came, and maybe it's better if I go.
- No. You can stay. I was just surprised to see you. What time is it?
- It's almost 10 am.
- What? Why was I sleeping until so late? Emily is probably hungry.
- Don't worry. I bought breakfast.
- What? Why?
- Because I want you to rest.
- Thanks, but I don't want you to spend money on me.
- Well, I won't do this every day. When did you go to bed last night?
- Dad came home at 3 am. Somehow, I made him take a shower. By the time I put him in bed and went to mine, it was already 4 am.
- Then why are you surprised by your late-waking up?
- Because I have things to do. I can't sleep so much.
- Bella, you need a rest. You can't always work.
- If I don't do it, no one will. Someone has to take care of this house.
- This is why I am here today. I want to help you with your chores.
- Thank you, but I can't let you do this.
- I am not asking you.
- You won't give up, will you?
- If you finish faster, we can watch something or go out. It's your choice.
- Fine. Let's go for breakfast now. I'm hungry. - Bella said, chuckling
All of us were at the table. Including her dad. Well, only for breakfast. Then he walked out again. Bella didn't say anything, but it was visible that she wasn't happy. The girls went to play again, and Bella was going to wash the dishes.
- I will take this. Thank you.
- You said that you would help me, not doing everything.
- I am helping you. What else do you have to do today?
- I have to do the laundry, clean my room, and go shopping. We have food, but during the week, I don't have that much time. Also, I have to finish my homework.
- If you want, I can do the laundry while you are cleaning your room. Then we can go shopping and later I will help you with your homework.
- Do you know how a washing machine works?
- No, but I will figure it out. I know that you can't put red with other colors.
- That's true. Otherwise, the other clothes will be pink.
- It can't be that hard.
- Ok, I will show you how to use it and which clothes you have to put in. Then I will go and clean my room.
Bella showed me how to use the washing machine. It's not that hard. Later, she went into her room. I put the clothes inside and some washing powder. When I finished, I walked upstairs. Bella was making the bed. She saw me and gave me a small smile. I returned it and went to help her. I don't know what she will clean here. Her room looks fine.
- Can I know what you will clean here?
- I have to reorder my things and clean the dust.
- I think that you just want to occupy yourself. Your room is fine. It's cleaner than mine for sure.
- Thanks, but I don't think like that.
- Ok. I won't argue with you. - I said with a smile
I helped Bella to clean her room. Later, we left Jasmine and Emily to miss Adams's house while we went shopping. Mostly we fill our shopping cart with food that Bella will cook this week. Of course, we took sweet things. I noticed something interesting. My friend checked the prices of everything and calculated how much she had to pay before adding more products. I know she wants to save money, but sometimes when you like something, you have to buy it. After all, it won't be every day.
- Do you need anything else?
- No, I think that's all.
- In that case, we can go and pay.
While Bella was pulling out the products, I pulled out my wallet. I know that she won't like it, but I don't care. Today I am in a good mood. Well, this doesn't mean that I will always do it. Once in a while, it's not bad. The whole way home, Bella didn't talk with me. She is pretending to be mad at me. I know Bella isn't mad, and that's why I don't pay much attention to this. Soon we walked in, and she went into the kitchen.
- Will you stop pretending to be mad at me?
- I am not pretending.
- I didn't do anything.
- Chris, I am not homeless. I have money.
- I know.
- Then why are you treating me like that?
- Are you mad?
- Yes, I am. I know that you feel sorry for me and doing things like that makes it worse. I kind of regret that I told you everything.
- Where are you going?
Bella didn't say anything and walked into her room. To be honest, I never thought that this would make her feel bad. I just wanted to be nice. I walked into her room and saw her on the bed. She didn't even look at me. I sat next to Bella and pulled her for a hug. She wanted to pull away, but I didn't let her. Soon she gave up. We stayed like that for a while. I won't lie that this is one of my favorite things. I know that her life is hard, and it's strange for her if people start doing things to help her. My friend is used to taking care of everything and won't accept help easily. One thing is sure. She is irreplaceable.
- Bella, I'm sorry. I didn't want to offend you.
- I want to enjoy the silence.
- What about Emily and Jasmine? Will we go and get them?
- I will leave them with miss Adams. She loves taking care of little kids.
- Look, I didn't want to make you mad.
- I know. Can you stop talking now?
- Why?
- Because sometimes staying in silence while you are in someone's arms is better than talking.
I won't lie that this surprised me. To understand that she likes this. Well, this made my day better. It's not like it was bad. I am with my crush. If I have to be honest, I am surprised by my calmness. I thought that I would be worse.
- Ok, I won't talk anymore.
- Thank you.
- You're welcome. - I said and kissed Bella's cheek
Why the heck did I do that? Bella looked at me, and I only smiled. I didn't know what else to do.
- What was that?
- Ignore it.
- What if I don't want to?
- What?
- Nothing. Forget it.
- I'm sorry about that. I don't know why I did it.
- It's ok. I don't mind. As long as it doesn't become your habit.
- I can't promise, but I will try.
- It's better than nothing.
- Bella.
- Yes.
- Thank you.
- For what?
- For letting me stay here.
- No problem. I enjoy your company.
- I'm glad to hear that.
The rest of the day I spent with Bella. I don't know why I kissed her cheek, but I won't lie that I liked it. I would gladly do it again, but I told her that I won't. I need to control myself more. It's not like I did something bad, but now is not the time for this. When Bella and her life get better, I will use my chance. For now, I won't do anything. I know that she doesn't have much free time, and I don't want her to choose between me and her chores. I like Bella, and I hope that when I tell her how I feel, it won't be too late.
