I could see myself running like my life depended on it. Even now, it felt as though I could still hear them jeering from behind me as I ran and could even feel their presence, but the strange thing was, I couldn’t see them.
It was as if they were disappearing and appearing at intervals only to frighten me and then disappear into the shadows.
Just as I made a sharp turn that was supposed to lead to the main road, I stumbled into something that was both heavy and sharp. I could feel myself falling to the floor and cried in pain as my ears began to ring.
Every part of my body hurt so bad that I was quickly beginning to feel numb. In fact, nothing made sense anymore but before I lost consciousness, the last thing I could remember seeing was my blood as it leaked out of a cut I had sustained on my upper arm…

“Brenda… get the hell out of that bed!” The leader’s voice snapped me out of the trance I had fallen into.
I looked up at him and even though I was shocked that he knew my name, I still managed to scurry out of the bed on wobbly feet.
My stomach bobbled as I nearly jumped out of the high bed and as soon as I landed on the floor, I winced as a sudden sharp pain coursed through my midriff.
“What were you trying to do to her doc?” The tall man asked the doctor, who seemed to be so fidgety, you could easily pass him for a leaf in the wind.
I wondered why he feared this man this much, but I didn’t have much time to ponder over it because the man himself suddenly yelled;
“What the hell were you trying to do to her?!”
I gasped in shock when the walls shook from the intensity of his growl, and I couldn’t help but take a few steps away from him. There was no way a normal human could pull that off easily, and the thought that this could be one of those lab experiments gone wrong made me begin to retrace my steps backwards.
“Whatever he was doing to me is none of your damn business Sir, even if you’re the owner of this shithole hospital!” I butted in, angry that he had just interrupted a session.
The man turned to look at me for a long while, and then after smirking at me, he turned back to the fidgety doctor and whispered;
“I’m not going to repeat that question anymore, doctor Hutton,”
I literally witnessed the man turn into jelly at those words, he immediately went on his knees, crying and sputtering as he whispered a quick; “She was trying to get her baby aborted!”
As soon as the doctor uttered those words, the scary man quickly turned around so fast that before I could blink, he was already standing right in front of me with a frown deeply etched onto his face. I gulped.
He circled his large cold hands around my neck and began squeezing it until my airflow had almost been successfully restricted.
“In what kind of hospital is a baby aborted without its father’s signature… or that of a guardian?” He drawled, turning back to seize the doctor's dress shirt.
“The baby doesn’t have a daddy!” I yelled out in frustration, wondering why these people were taking up this case like it was theirs.
“She said it doesn’t have a father!” The doctor shrieked as the scary man wrapped his hands around the doctor’s neck and began lifting him slowly into the air.
I watched in horror as the doctor’s legs began to dangle in the air and began to pity him when all the color left his face, leaving his complexion looking like a chalky shade of white.
“Are you all that daft? I just said that the baby doesn’t have a father and so you do not have any right to come around here causing trouble?!
“And what part of you’re my wife don’t you understand?!” He snapped at me, making me step back in fear. No way!
This man is a liar and a manipulative bastard! Fine, I understood that I had amnesia but I also knew that arrogant folks like this were never my type and so there was no way I would be involved with a person like him.
Or was it a one night stand?
My heart gave a loud thud, looking into the face of these men as plenty of questions went through my mind.
Numerous thoughts traveled through my mind and there was no way I could deal with anything as I felt numb—Unable to take a step.
I looked around at the men in the room, and suddenly discovered I had to do something, they was no way I was going to stand right here and watch him do whatever he was here for.
The moonlight glittering into the room reflected on a piece of glass shard right there on the floor and without thinking, I rushed to where it was, picked it and held it to my wrist.
“You all should f*****g leave, or I'd kill myself!”
I tried to look as serious as I could, and with the way my heart was racing, I could swear that I would’ve done it anyway.
If I wanted attention, I suddenly had it as the men turned to look at me.
The scary one who was claiming to be my husband tossed the doctor away like he was some rag doll and then held my gaze and before I could even blink he was right there in front of me.
“How in did you get here so -”
It all happened so quickly, forcing me to stay awake as I fought between being conscious and losing consciousness.
“Drop that object or you’ll be forced to witness the death of your dearest doctor.” He threatened but before I could say a word, a smashing sound rang through the silent room, startling me.
I saw the doctor fall right through the mirror wall that had been in the room so hard that for a minute, I thought he was dead. I began shivering, allowing the broken shard to fall freely from my hands.
It all looked too much for me to take in, the speed …the color of their eyes.
Who the hell were these people?
