Everyone once in a while I surprise myself. Waking up alone on the couch when I remembered falling asleep beside Brandon. I thought by now I’d gotten used to the pain of my mother being gone. I spent each day of her birthday grieving alone and this year someone actually showed up and I’d never imagined being overwhelmed by such gratitude.
