Ace's POV
I'm not sure what overcame me but I kissed Alessia's hand. The sweet scent never left my lips. I wanted more. I craved it, like a drug. One taste was enough to get me addicted. She was like a drug. The reason I flew to Italy was to see her and f*****g hell, did I see her and her heel in that man's neck. She was more than capable.
I was in such a daze, I hardly noticed Ramsay enter the room and leave my suitcase behind. I did, however, see the smirk that was plastered across his face. I did not care.
I eventually showered and lay on the bed. My tired eyes begged for sleep and I gave in. This would be the first time I've slept in a while. My dreams were beautiful. Alessia Ferrari. My wife. And maybe she was the one.
I finally awoke not knowing the time. When I do sleep, I am to be left undisturbed. No matter the emergency. f**k that. A guard made the mistake of awaking me once and let's just say he no longer breathes.
Glancing at my phone, I saw that it was one in the afternoon. Not unusual. I suspected Alessia would already be awake and doing whatever the hell she liked.
After getting ready, I made my way downstairs. The rooms were quiet. Too quiet. Not even a maid could be seen, nor guards. I put a hand to my gun which was neatly tucked into my belt.
I walked into the kitchen and again saw not a soul. If this was a horror film, I would be dead shortly. I smirked as I ran a hand through my semi-dry hair. The little hairs on my neck didn't stand on end.
So I walked to the fridge and saw that it was mainly empty except for cans of alcohol and milk. I poured myself a glass of milk. I looked up and saw Ramsay look at me with confusion. He opened his mouth and closed it.
Here we go again. "What is it, Ramsay?" I asked. I would have shouted but I had a good sleep and I needn't spoil my mood just yet. He rubbed his neck.
"Well..er-" He started but got interrupted by a man in a grey suit who entered the room. "I came as soon as I could." He puffed out of breath. He looked slightly terrified.
I looked at Ramsay in confusion and back at the man. "Who are-" I was cut off by KC who entered the room. "Doctor Bellantani, please come this way." She gestured.
I placed my glass onto the counter. "What the f**k is going on?" I asked. Ramsay stopped daydreaming and answered me. "Alessia is sick."
"This I have to see." I said as I walked up to her room. Ramsay remained downstairs and I saw KC at her door. She looked at me with a small smile. "You wouldn't want to go in there." She said.
I smirked and pushed the door open anyway. Why ever not? I saw Alessia slumped up against the soft headboard of her bed. She looked as if her mind was elsewhere. The doctor was running some tests on her.
The doctor was an aged man, and the wrinkles on his face were evident. If it weren't for that, it was his greying hair and short stature that gave his age away. He must be very experienced and quite good if Alessia called for him.
I stood close to one side of Alessia's bed. The doctor looked up at me wide-eyed but got back to what he was doing. It was now I saw the state of Alessia. Her skin had lost some of its color and a thin layer of sweat covered her. Her eyes were half closed as they were filled with water. She took deep slow breaths.
I did not like seeing her like this. She was a force to be reckoned with.
"You will be fine. I have prescribed you some medication. Take one tablet twice a day. You just need some rest and plenty of water. I'm sure this fever won't kill you." The doctor explained as he packed away his bag.
Alessia rubbed her forehead. "Thank you. Now get f**k out." She growled. I watched the doctor smile and hurry out.
"You too Ace, get the f**k out." She swore at me. I looked at her surprised. She reached out to grab a glass of water that was left on the nightstand but couldn't quite reach it. I walked around the bed and handed it to her. She drank it along with a pill.
I watched as she lay back into her messy bed. She closed her eyes. I couldn't help but admire her rosy cheeks. She sighed. "Get out Ace. Why do I have to f*****g repeat myself?"
I was at a loss for words. I saw faint tears forming in her eyes. s**t. Did I make her cry? No, it's her fever I'm sure. Regardless, I did as she asked. I obeyed her. f**k.
I felt like s**t. Alessia was sick and there was nothing I could do about it. It was a waiting game. In this moment I felt the impact of what Alessia had on my life so far. We have only known each other for a short while and yet I would do anything for her.
I paced the living room. "Ace, you want to stop ruining Alessia's carpet?" Ramsay called out. I sighed and looked up at him. "What am I supposed to do?" I asked in annoyance.
"Maybe we can go check out a bar?" He shrugged. I raised my head and walked out the front door. "That's quite a good idea."
Half an hour later we arrived at a club. Ramsay walked beside me into the poorly lit place. We got a few stares as we headed inside. I smirked as I saw a face I recognised.
"Vodka neat." I said to the bartender who began to pour my drink. "Go on Ramsay, have a drink." Ramsay straightened out his suit jacket as he nodded. I looked at the bartender. "Pour a glass for my friend here." He obliged and I became increasingly aware of the many stares in my direction.
I was in no ordinary club. The booths were sticky looking and LED lights flashed around the room. Several women worked poles in barely any clothing. Men sat watching as they smoked and drank.
I tipped my glass into my mouth and got up from the barstool. I pulled the sleeves of my shirt down and licked my lips. Walking towards a particular booth, people stared at me. I was daring. I dared to walk to the booth of a dangerous drug lord. But unbeknownst to them, I was dangerous also and perhaps even more so.
Two guards stopped me as they stood in my way. I looked straight ahead, my hands were placed into my pockets. A man sitting in the booth waved his hand and the guards moved away.
"Ace Hernandez, what can I do for you?" He asked as he played with the hair of a blonde woman who sat beside him. The table of the booth was littered with lines of coke and glasses of alcohol. Typical.
I remained expressionless and bored as I sat down opposite the man. "Amado Suárez, you've made quite the name for yourself." I pulled out a cigarette and lit it. Blowing out smoke slowly I looked at Suárez.
He chuckled as he tilted his head back as if he was getting a read on me. "What can I do for you?" He asked again. He was shitting his pants. I smirked as I continued smoking. His men remained rigid as they watched me carefully.
"I've just come to enjoy a drink and to see my club." I put an arm out, being very relaxed. The blonde giggled as Suárez whispered into her ear. She stood up and left the booth all while Suárez stared at her ass.
"Did I hear that right? Your club? This is my place." Suárez chuckled as did his guards.
I smirked as I pulled out my gun. This in turn made his guards pull out theirs, aimed at me. I placed my gun down onto the tabletop. "You know who I am, don't f*****g piss me off." I growled as I stared at him.
Suárez nodded his bald head and his guards lowered their guns. He neck was full of black and white tattoos. His ears were pierced and his knuckles were also tattooed. He was only a couple of years older than me and was quite an established drug lord.
I relaxed back into my seat. "And in terms of what I want. It's simple really. I want you to work for me."
Suárez chuckled briefly and rubbed his deep-set eyes. "Why would I want to work for you? I have everything I need. I'm untouchable. A kingpin."
This time it was my turn to chuckle. "I think you are confused. Too much cocaine. You see, I am the untouchable one. Whereas you, not so much." I smirked.
I put out my cigarette onto the already full ashtray. "So I ask again, work for me or if you don't, well let's just say blondie won't see you tonight."
Suárez looked at a loss for words. His jaws were clenched and his red eyes bore holes into me. He was f****d. His nostrils flared as he nodded.
I placed my hands onto each other. "Now was that so difficult? I expect eighty percent of your earnings every month." I plucked a random number out of thin air.
"Eighty percent! That's too much!" Suárez's eyes went wide. I sighed as I rubbed my forehead. "Are you asking to be shot? I want eighty percent..and this f*****g club." I growled which shut him up.
Shortly, I was handed documents which I signed and just like that, I had a new club to my name. Some were acquired similarly and some I bought out. I drank another glass of vodka and stood up.
"Pleasure doing business Suárez," I said calmly as I turned to leave. "I wish I could say the same bastard." He muttered under his breath behind my back. I smirked as I walked away. I'll let his heart keep beating until I decide it shouldn't.
Ramsay opened my door to the SUV we arrived in. He sat opposite me and smiled. "f*****g hell Ace, you could have told me your plan instead of keeping me in the dark." He shook his head at me. I chuckled. "Where's the fun in that?"
He handed me my gun and I ran my fingers over its smooth sharp exterior. "Alessia's house," I stated and the driver drove off.
Upon entering her house once more, shouting and loud crashing sounds were heard. KC was sat on the stairs preoccupied on her phone. She didn't seem bothered. She looked up at me and I saw a faint smile on her face when she saw Ramsay behind me. I rubbed my neck. "What the hell is going on?"
KC switched her phone off and shook her blonde head of hair. "Mariano is..well being Mariano." She shrugged her shoulders. I furrowed my brows in confusion. Just then Mariano clambered down the stairs. He smiled from ear to ear and his movements held joy.
"Ace!" He announced when he saw me. He stopped halfway and KC stood up from the stairs. "You're still here?" He was amused as he tried to fix his unruly hair.
"Well, where else would I be?" I remarked, crossing my arms. Mariano chuckled. "I came to see Alessia. What can I say, seems my presence was not well received."
He tilted his head as he looked at Ramsay. "Sono sorpreso che sia ancora qui, ero certa che Alessia l'avrebbe mangiato vivo ormai. (I'm surprised he is still here, I was certain Alessia would have eaten him alive by now.)" Whatever he said made Ramsay chuckle.
"You know I can understand what you say, Mariano?" KC cleared her throat. Mariano's smile fell as he stepped closer to her. He attempted to put a finger under her chin. KC held onto his hand which was slightly twisted. He smirked. "No need to tell her I already have."
With that, Mariano patted my back and he left the house. I sighed and looked at Ramsay who was now talking to KC or should I say flirting. I shook my head as I saw him using his best moves.
Walking up the stairs to Alessia's room, I tidied up my suit and brushed my hair back with a hand. I opened the door and saw Alessia sat on the edge of her bed. She rubbed her forehead. "Get the f**k out, Mariano. I'm going to f*****g murder you." She growled. f**k. Her voice drove me f*****g crazy.
"He's left Alessia." I closed the door behind me. She looked up at me and smiled. "I was wondering how long it would take for you to be back."
She chuckled as she stood up. She pushed her hair from her face and sniffed. "f**k me." She groaned. I smirked. "That could be arranged."
I'm sure I saw her smile once more but was unsure as the room was dimly lit and the curtains were drawn. I sat down on the armchair which was in one corner of her room. She picked up some clothes from her drawer and went into the bathroom. The sound of running water could be heard.
I spent the time on my phone dealing with business and began to read a book that was left on Alessia's nightstand. After some time I heard the bathroom door open. Alessia exited and I couldn't help but admire her long legs. She wore tiny shorts and a loose sleeveless top. She walked around barefoot and pulled out a hairdryer from her closet.
She plugged it in and sat on the floor. She ran a hand through her wet hair. "Fuck." She muttered. I noticed the way her reactions were slightly slowed. I rose from my seat and walked over to her.
"What?" Alessia sighed heavily. I sat down behind her and took the hairdryer from her. "Allow me." I began to dry her hair running my fingers through her hair.
"I must admit, this is nice." Alessia smiled. I smiled trying to ignore the feeling those words had on me. Soon enough her hair was as dry as can be. She stood up and tied her hair into a ponytail. "Not bad." She said and lay back on her bed.
I sat on the other side, my feet hanging off the side of the king-size bed. I glanced at Alessia, her top had ridden up slightly. f**k.
"I take it you haven't read this book," I said as I held the book up in my hand. She chuckled. "How to not be a b***h. Courtesy of Mariano. I think he needs it more than I do."
I chuckled deeply as I put the book down. I saw her looking at me with an expression I could not decipher. "Yes?" I asked. She smiled lazily. "Can't I admire?"
"Admire all you want. Would you like me to remove my clothes?" I smirked as I gazed at her. She laughed loudly. "What the f**k Ace? What am I married to?"
"So I take that as a no?" I grinned, relishing the fact that I made her laugh. She shook her head. "Not." She pointed at the glass of water on the nightstand. I again handed it to her. Something I would never do for just anyone. She took a sip along with a pill. "I would kill for some wine." She groaned.
"As would I," I said as I noted the time. "Time to sleep Alessia." I reached out and took the water from her. Usually people would flinch but not her.
"Not so fast Ace. I have a question for you." She said as she stopped me from getting up. I looked into her eyes which were filled with amusement. I sat back down and faced her. "Go on."
She smirked as she interlaced her hands. She didn't utter a word. Two can play the waiting game. "My question is, why are you still here?" She breathed slowly.
I remained silent. I was not expecting that. "Because I like you and you fascinate me." I spoke truthfully. I wanted to see more of her and what she did.
She raised a brow and tilted her head. I leaned close to her. "You are so f*****g dangerous, intelligent and very interesting." I added.
"That was.. unexpected." Her breath hitched as she batted her eyelids. I chuckled lightly. "What did you expect?"
She hummed and crossed her ankles. "That you were still here to f**k me and leave." She chuckled. I did want to f**k her, of course I did.
"You can leave now. I'm tired." She spoke softly and closed her eyes. I let out a breath. "No, you don't. I answered your question, it's only fair you return the favour." I smiled smugly.
"Why haven't you even attempted to slit my throat?" I asked. She grinned and looked up at me. "For that very reason. You aren't scared to question me. You see me as your equal. And you excite me to no end."
I felt my cheeks heat up. Of all the compliments I've ever been given, this was by far the best one. One I will remember word for word. Alessia licked her lips as my gaze never left her.
"Now will you leave me to sleep?" She asked and yawned. "I will." I said. Should I? I felt a sudden rush of adrenaline and I lowered my face close to hers. Her eyes remained closed and her breaths even. She knew what I was about to do and she was going to let me. My lips grazed her soft cheek and I planted a gentle kiss upon her skin. "Sleep well Alessia." I breathed.
