Alessia's Pov
After two excruciating days of being unwell, I finally made a recovery. I was feeling somewhat better. Better in the sense that I didn't feel like ripping someone's head off if they asked me a ridiculous question.
I groaned as I trudged to my walk in wardrobe. I picked out some clothes. The day was young and I had a lot of s**t to do.
I heard a knock on the door and opened it to see Ace. I took a few steps back when he entered my room. "I was informed you were awake. How are you feeling?" He asked. I raised a brow. This fucker thinks he can walk in whenever he wants. Much like me if I think about it.
I must say he looked absolutely dashing in his usual attire. Today, however, he chose to wear a white shirt under dark waistcoat. I averted my eyes as I looked for a towel. "I'm much better. Thank you."
I found a towel and headed for the bathroom. "So are you just going to stand there while I take a shower?" I asked Ace with a teasing smirk. He chuckled as he crossed his feet and leaned on the doorframe. "Well I could come and take a shower with you if that's what you mean." He remarked along with a teasing smirk of his own.
"In your dreams." I chuckled and closed the bathroom door behind me. How the f**k does he do that? He seems to always have an answer and in that goddamn cocky way of his. I must admit it's sexy as f**k.
As I stood under the hot water which streamed down my skin, I thought about Ace. He must have a hidden agenda. Why the f**k would he even try with me. I would have thought he would be coursing after thousands of women by now. But he truly surprises me.
The best things can happen unexpectedly. So perhaps I shouldn't be too quick to dismiss him. Maybe I'll just f**k him for fun.
After leaving the bathroom, I changed and did my hair and makeup. I opted for a light look but with my signature red lipstick. I guess the b***h is back. I chuckled as I ran a brush through my wavy hair.
My phone lay on the side and I grabbed it. I looked through all the messages and calls I received and dismissed them for another time. I headed downstairs, my heels clicked against the marble floor.
I did have everything I've always wanted. But could he be the missing Ace that I needed? That I didn't know I needed until he was practically pushed into my life. I contemplated this thought for hours on end, always at the back of my mind.
I caught sight of Ace who was watching some TV absentmindedly in the living room. He turned to look back at me and smiled. Not the kind that would be consider perverted but genuine. I've seen many stares like that. In this world, you learn to deal with it. Or gouge enough f*****g eyes out for the stares to cease.
"Back to business Don." KC smiled as she saw me. I nodded. "È bello essere tornati (It's good to be back)" A few guards who were within eyesight bowed their heads at me. I held mine high and walked to the front door.
"Niente affari oggi. Se succede qualcosa, affrontalo. Fatto? (No business today. If something arises, deal with it. Got it?)" I instructed my head guard. He nodded in response. I opened the front door widely. The bright sunshine hit my face, the glorious summer heat rippled of the clear water in the fountain before me.
I took a deep breath as I inhaled the fresh air. "Would you like to accompany me to lunch Ace?" I asked. I do like his presence and his personality is refreshing. I wanted to find out more, to delve beneath his surface. I didn't however, wait for answer and walked down the front steps.
I heard the crunch of gravel behind as Ace made his way to stand beside me. I crossed my arms and waited. Shortly, a car was brought before me.
I entered it and griped the cool leather steering wheel. "f**k I've missed this." I muttered as I started the car. Ace took the seat beside me and smirked as he looked at the interior of the car. "Your car really suits you." He said.
I smiled and pushed down the accelerator to my beautiful Ferrari. I couldn't help but sneak a glance at Ace. He looked ahead which gave me a perfect view of his chiselled jaw. His hair fell neatly and his dark eyes shone. How can he be so f*****g ridiculously hot? f**k. I'm going to crash.
But somehow I did arrive at a restaurant all intact. I parked the car on yellow lines as I always did. I stepped out and the breeze brushed my hair back. Ace also stepped out and stood on the pavement.
KC came behind me and closed the doors to my car. She whispered. "I see you eyeing him up." I chuckled and shrugged off her comment.
"Come on." I said as I headed inside the restaurant. It was a classy establishment. I've been coming here for some years now. Nature was brought inside as trees and shrubs dangled off the walls and climbed the white painted arches. Golden deep lights filled the room and candles were put upon the tables.
"I'd like my table." I said to the host. I barely looked at him but at Ace who seemed fixated on the place. I'm not surprised I was too. The host cleared his throat. "Yes of course, what's the name you have booked under?"
This made me turn my attention towards him. I smiled and shook my head. "I assume you are new here so I won't be impolite. You are simply oblivious."
I walked away and into the restaurant. The host shouted after me but I ignored him. Standing at the table I always sit at, I glanced at the couple enjoying their meal. "Leave." I ordered. The couple immediately leapt from their seats and apologised.
At least they know who I was.
I took a seat at the table and Ace seated himself opposite me. The manager of the restaurant quickly came up beside the table. He looked at me. "I'm very sorry. I humbly apologise, I didn't know you were coming today. I could have cleared the restaurant out."
"No need. This was a spontaneous outing. Clear the table." I said. The manager promptly called servers to clear my table. He also offered a very expensive wine on the house.
Ace chuckled as he watched the server pour it into two wine glasses. I raised a brow. "What's so funny?" He chuckled as he looked intently at me. "You own this restaurant." He surmised.
"And how did you come to that conclusion?" I asked intrigued. "Anyone with half a brain could see the way the manager treats you." He said as he took a sip of wine.
I hummed. He is smarter than most men I know which is a big change. "So you're saying you have half a brain." I chuckled which made Ace flash a perfect a smile.
Shortly, a server came to take our order. "Avrò il filetto di orata al vapore con pomodori e insalata (I will have the steamed fillet of sea bream with tomatoes and salad)" I spoke. The server looked at Ace with furrowed brows. I too looked at him, he was heavily invested in the menu.
"Need some help?" I asked. The menu was in Italian. It was funny seeing Ace run his eyes over each sentence. He looked up at the server. "I will have the same as my wife." He smiled as he closed the leather coated menu. f**k. Wife.
The server left and I just stared at Ace, lost in my own world. He flashed a wide smile and tilted his head. I blinked out of my daydream. "Oh s**t, I must be tired." Was all that I could say.
"You can stare at me all you like..by the way what did I order?" He chuckled. I smiled as I kept my lips shut and ran a finger down them. "We shall see." I smirked.
"Maybe I should learn Italian." He shook his head. Him learn Italian. That would be a sight to see. f**k, imagine him speaking Italian. "You look beautiful Alessia." He said. I put down my wine glass and smiled once more. s**t why am I smiling so much?
"Thank you." I said just as the servers came with our food. He looked down at the dish and then at me. "This is perfect, you do have expectational taste." f**k the compliments just leave his lips so easily. I wasn't used to that.
I nodded. "Tell me something I don't know." We started to eat and talked. The conversation flowed easily and there was never a dull moment. Not with Ace.
"Do you have any close friends? I think I'd like to meet them one day." I asked out of curiosity. Maybe I wanted to know if he did have any. That would tell me exactly what type of man he was. I couldn't trust someone who had no friends.
"Yes I have quite a few. I would like it if you met them too." He smiled. I wiped my hands on the napkin. "And your brother Kaden." I added. He sighed. "Him too. You know I envy you, you grew up without an annoying brat of a sibling. Must have been delightful." He smiled to himself.
I pushed back a strand of my hair and chuckled. "You are forgetting Mariano. He was around a lot and still is. I called him an ass back then and still do. I wonder who's worse, your brother or mine."
"Definitely Kaden. I had a big meeting set up one day and he spiked my water. Needless to say the meeting did not go so well." He said calmly. I raised my brow. "And I thought he was so nice."
He scoffed and folded his arms. I licked my lips. "Mariano cut my hair while I was sleeping. And it wasn't just a few inches. I looked like a boy." I chuckled. "That was when I was seven. If that shithead did that now, I wouldn't know what I'd do." I'd probably smack the i***t.
He laughed lightly. "So whose worse?" He asked. I shrugged. His eyes lowered to my lips and my heart began to race. f**k. Should I?
Suddenly, someone cleared their throat and Ace and I averted our eyes from each other. He glanced at the rolex on his wrist and I looked at the perpetrator who ruined our moment. Who knows maybe I would have kissed him. I was so close to doing so.
"What?" I said with narrowed eyes. KC looked at me apologetically. f**k. "Don, abbiamo un problema. Ti piacerebbe venire fuori? (Boss, we have a problem. Would you like to come outside?)" She flicked her eyes over to Ramsay who was sat at the table behind us.
"Whatever is it, you can say it to me in front of Ace." I said. He looked at me slightly surprised. He should get used to me soon enough. I know I'm a b***h at times. KC pursed her lips and nodded. "Your father requests to see you."
My small smile quickly turned into a scowl. "Fanculo (f**k)" I gritted though my teeth. "I don't want to see him." I held back a gulp.
"Forgive me Don, but your father was insistent you see him now." KC added as she shuffled on her feet uncomfortably. I hid my anger and rubbed my eyes. It is not KC's fault but rather that f*****g bastards. Why does he want to see me anyway. More insults to give or maybe he wants to slap me again.
"Fine. I'll go. I do apologise Ace for the interruption. I have to see my father." I stood up and pushed my seat in rather aggressively.
"I'll come with you." Ace uttered. Before I could protest he took ahold of my hand and walked me out. He took charge and it was sexy as f**k. I couldn't help but admire what he was doing. Father was truly a repulsive creature and Ace coming with me made me feel somewhat safer.
I decided to leave my car behind and instead be driven to see father in one of the SUV's my guards used. We soon arrived at a club. I took notice of Ace and how he observed me silently. I shivered involuntarily as I stepped in front of the club. These places are practically fathers second home.
I didn't bother with Ace and just headed inside. I f*****g hate father and I didn't want Ace to know just how much. It was truly pathetic of me. Ace still followed after me silently along with Ramsay.
KC was with me as she whispered quietly. This putrid club was dark and dingy. The smell of sweat, heat and alcohol filled the air, making me almost gag. The floor was sticky and almost naked girls hung to poles, dancing to earn a living. Some girls were even fully naked and being groped by men old enough to be their father. Disgusting.
I saw father across the room. I slowed down and made my way directly towards the bastard. He was seated at a booth which was crawling with ladies with barely any clothing, leaving nothing to the imagination. Father sipped his drink with a mischievous smirk on his face. The very sight disgusted me.
I cleared my throat loudly to draw his attention. He stopped sucking on a woman's neck and scowled at me. "Father, you wanted to see me." I said without an ounce of emotion. Ace was stood behind me. I felt nervous.
Father grinned, a false expression. "Ah Alessia, take a seat." He exclaimed. I held back a grimace as I obliged and sat beside a bikini clad woman. Her cheap perfume made me want to gag even more. Ace eventually greeted father and took a seat beside me in the booth. The air around the two was hostile and the tension could be cut with a knife. So he didn't like the man either. Funny.
I saw the way father looked at Ace, like he was beneath him. I did not like it one bit. "So father, what was so important you needed to see me?" I asked keeping my face blank and void of any emotion.
Fathers eyes narrowed, the vein on his forehead twitched. "Perché hai portato con te il bastardo americano? (Why did you bring the American bastard with you?)" He said through clenched teeth.
"Cosa ti importa di quello che faccio? (What is it to you what I do?)" I stared at him. Father chuckled hoarsely. He was used to my backtalk. I never stopped. He wouldn't take that part away from me. "Già trattata come la cagna che sei da lui (Already being treated like the b***h you are by him)" He chuckled. I clenched my fists tightly.
"Ladies, leave us." He commanded as he waved his hands. The half naked women promptly left the booth, leaving me beside father. f**k.
"Odio le tue fottute budella. Che tipo di padre tratta la sua unica figlia come fai tu. Mi permetteresti di essere trattato come una puttana o una puttana di strada. Riderebbe se mio marito mi picchiasse. Non hai vergogna? Sai, ogni singolo fottuto giorno desidero la tua morte. Sono così vicino ad ucciderti io stesso. (I hate your f*****g guts. What kind of a father treats his only daughter the way you do. You'd allow me to get treated like some b***h or a w***e of the streets. You'd f*****g laugh if my husband beat me. Do you have no shame? You know, every single f*****g day I wish for your death. I'm so close to killing you myself." I growled.
I noticed fathers eyes darken. The very rage he possessed was passed down to me and by f**k, I had more control over it than he ever did. He nodded to his guard who coughed and left the booth. A distraction.
Father grabbed ahold of my hand under the table. Ace didn't witness this as his attention was focused on the guard. f**k, s**t!
I tensed up as I tried to pry my hand away from his rough grip. "Guarda il tuo tono, Alessia (Watch your tone, Alessia)" Father growled. He smiled as he looked at Ace who was completely oblivious.
"I called you here because I need you to make a deal with Constantine." He said as he relaxed back slightly but still had a good grip on my hand.
"Why?" I inhaled deeply. Fathers lips tugged down into an ugly scowl. "Vuo cagna, perché mi metti alla prova? Ho detto di fare un accordo, quindi corri e fai un accordo. Puoi fottere il bastardo se vuoi. (You b***h, why do you test me? I said make a deal, so run and make a deal. You can f**k the bastard if you want to)" He growled his voice harsh as ice.
I clenched my jaws tightly. One hundred and twenty four seconds. That's how long it would take for me to strangle him. Eight seconds and I could snap his neck. Five to slit his throat. But yet, I sat still. My mafias loyalty meant more to me than the man who called himself my father.
"I won't do your bidding old man." I blurted.
Immediately I regretted it. My eyes must have shown a glimmer of fear as father smirked and gripped my hand tighter. I felt his jagged nails cut into the soft flesh of my wrist. I stopped breathing as I forced myself to stare coldly at him, ignoring the pain. Blood was surely drawn. The bastard.
"You will make a deal with him." He ordered as he licked his thin crusty lips. I narrowed my eyes. "Fine." Why the f**k? What will he gain from the deal? I wondered.
I stood up quickly and father released his grip on my hand. Ace stood up and left the booth along with his guards. Just as I took a few steps away from the fucker, he spoke up once more. "Scommetto che l'hai già scopato come la puttana che sei (I bet you have already f****d him like the w***e you are)" He sniggered, picking up a glass. He drank alcohol as if it were water. He knows nothing. He was nothing.
I pulled down the sleeve of my grey top. I met Ace at the SUV. He was already seated inside. I began to breathe harshly as I couldn't face the journey home. "Here Alessia." KC said as she watched me with concern. I took the napkin from her and discreetly wiped my hand as best I could.
"Oh fuck." I muttered. "It's all right Alessia, you'll be okay." KC reassured. I didn't feel all right though and I never will be unless that man was six feet under and burning in hell.
I quickly rushed into the car and sat beside Ace. I looked straight ahead, avoiding his gaze. And s**t, he looked at me intensely. The car began to drive.
"Alessia, what happened?" He asked with a hint of worry. My heart sank. Tears threatened to spill. I was so emotional and it made it all the more harder. I should tell him but I don't want to look weak in front of him.
I shook my head as my breathing became jagged. I was hurting and not just physically. "Uh..n-nothing." I stuttered. I looked down at my wrist which was hidden from his view.
Shit.
He looked at me with an emotion I couldn't read and just as quickly as it appeared it was replaced with anger. "Alessia." He sighed. Before I could react, he reached out for my hand.
I gasped when his fingers unintentionally touched my cut skin. "Did he do this to you?" He asked. I didn't answer or move. He knew.
"It's fine." I shook my hand free. He clenched his jaws. "Fine? How can you say that? He f*****g hurt you. No one should ever lay a hand on you." He growled. His anger radiated off him. Why the f**k would he care anyway?
"I know! I know it's f*****g wrong! I've thought of a million ways to f*****g kill him. Don't you think I would have buried him already if I could. It's just..messed up Ace." I yelled. He looked at me wide eyed.
Fuck it. I don't mean to yell at him. He was not at fault. "Stop the car!" I yelled once more.
The car came to an abrupt stop and I stepped out quickly. I didn't look back and instead walked away. The chilly air angered me further. I heard the car drive off and I felt an overwhelming sense of sadness and aloneness.
