CHAPTER TWENTY TWO Anka kept her head down, trying not to attract attention from the soldiers of the 23rd as she walked through the city of tents. So far, she’d been lucky. She’d had nothing more than a few suspicious looks. With the way soldiers were, it could be a lot worse. She’d managed to gain entry to the camp by dressing as one of the washer women who made their way between the campfires. There were no female soldiers in the army but there were always servants and camp followers who trailed after it as it moved.
