Defending her

1215 Words
Alpha Atlas's POV. My feet stuck on the floor watching the wench that just spilled my meal away. I've been waiting patiently for her to be done with the meal, only for me to stare at it on the ground. "You must be crazy right?" My voice raised at each word, revealing how annoyed I was. She stepped back and got on her knees. "It wasn't intentional, I stumbled on the chair." "That's because you're blind, do you know how costly that food is? Can you produce such food?" Princess Anita screamed at her. I rolled my eyes. She must be practicing on how to be my Luna, while I'm thinking of how to stop her from visiting the palace because of me. She might be well convinced that I have an eye on her because of her title, but the truth is that I have no single interest in her…neither will I love to hurt her feelings. Yolanda was already in tears while kneeling on the ground, she wiped her face and stared at me. "If you forgive me, I'll prepare another immediately." She pleaded amidst tears. "You must be very stupid for saying that." Princess Anita retorted. I glanced at her and shook my head, then stepped closer to Yolanda. "Come up…" I stretched my hand as a help. She was shocked, and I could see that clearly on her face. She held my hand and stood up while Princess Anita watched us. Dammit! Do I need to be told that she's jealous? Of course, I want her to be, if that will be the reason she will stop visiting my pack I'll love that most. And for the sake of Yolanda, Princess Anita has no right to scold my slave that way. She's under me and I'll do what I want. I stared at Yolanda for a few seconds and faked a smile. "You should be careful so you won't die and become useless to me, we aren't done yet." I licked my lips, still holding her soft palm. "Go back and prepare another meal, but you have to be fast this time…and, clean up this mess." She nodded and bowed to me. I wiped her cheeks with my bare palm, smiling inwardly. "Alpha, do you even know what you're doing? She's a slave in this palace?" Princess Anita drew my attention. I turned to her, letting go of Yolanda's palm. "Is there anything wrong with it?" She walked closer to me and began dressing up my cloak. Who cares? Not when my aim is to get the remaining witches and send them to hell. She caressed my cheek while smiling sheepishly. "You don't have to go close to her when Princess Anita is here for you. For goddess sake, she's a slave that worths nothing." I sniffed, still watching her. "Look, Alpha Atlas, I came to spend some time with you before going back to my pack." She added. "I see, to spend time with me, and not to scold my slave that way right?" I clapped my hands staring at the rooftop. She felt devastated and I could see that vividly. "Well, I have a lot of things to handle now, and that slave is the only person I have time for." I bent my head to her ear. "Keep your eyes off her." I concluded and walked out of her sight instantly. No need of taking a glance backwards, I need to go see what Yolanda's hairpin can do for me. I was sad when Yolanda spilled my food on the ground, because the rumbling of my stomach seemed like a distraction to me. But when the princess took it up to herself, I had no other option than to play a game that touches the heart. Besides, isn't Yolanda my mate any longer? She still is, even though she's a witch. So the game isn't just a game, I had pity for my slave mate. I went into my room and rushed to the cupboard where I placed the hairpin, then took it out. Staring at it for over five minutes, but knew not how to consult with it. It struck my head to go see my mother, I bet she must know what to do with it. Without having a second thought, I left my room, heading to go see my mother, but she wasn't in her room. "Mother…" I called out while passing through the chamber, and I could hear her answer me from there. I immediately rushed in and sat beside her. "Mother..I got it." "Princess Anita visited, have you two seen each other?" She chipped in. A silent hiss escaped my lips. "Yeah! We've seen each other, but that's not the reason I am here." I handed the hairpin to her. "I got it from Yolanda, I read that it can be used to summon witches." I explained to her. She nodded, taking a good look at it closely. "We have to send a message to the witch priestess to come over, she's the only one that can handle it." She gave it back to me. "Keep it safe." I smiled at her. "I'll keep it now." I stood and left the chamber. Happiness filled my heart at the assurance my mother gave me. I can't just wait for the witch priestess to arrive and summon Salome to appear before me. My sword must be sharpened before then, in order for me to behead her instantly she arrives. She thinks running away from me will be the end of it. While heading to my room, I heard a noise coming from the kitchen. Since it's unusual, I had to know what's going on between the maids doing that…and I bet, they must be punished or even sacked. I twitched towards the kitchen only for me to see Princess Anita grip Yolanda's throat. She was struggling for breath but could get none. "You must agree to leave this palace." Princess Anita yelled at her. "Why should she?" I retorted at her. Out of fear, she pushed Yolanda off her grip and stepped back, but Yolanda landed on the floor, hitting her head on the little chair at the side. "Why did you push her that way?" I scolded, my heart filled with anger. She bit her lower lips. "She deserves more than this." I rushed to Yolanda to help her up, but she wasn't responding to either my voice or my push on her body. I jerked her body up to notice the blood dripping from her head. Gosh! She passed out, because I noticed that her breath was dropping gradually. My eyes fell on Anita who was quivering at the side, but I didn't care about her position this time. "Guards…" I screeched out of anger. The two guards walked in and bowed. "Throw her into an empty room and no one should be aware of her existence in this palace." I turned to her. "Pray to the moon goddess that she survives, or I won't set you free." She was dumbfounded. I don't care if Yolanda is a commoner that has nothing to do with me, but she still has a role to play for me, and she must live at all cost.
