CHAPTER 8 : POOR SHEKHAR

Shekhar looked at the person at the opposite chair and his jaws dropped.

I looked at his face.

I was actually wanting to grab popcorn to see his next reactions.

"Daada , what are you doing here ? " asked Shekhar to Kalash.

"Hmm....I must ask you that question instead...?" asked Kalash to his younger adoptive brother.

"Actually , Amrit is a client and he is also a good friend of mine. " said Shekhar to his big brother.

Kalash smiled and asked "You never told me about such a good friend of yours. I thought that you could have introduced us some day.."

Shekhar looked sheepishly at Kalash and said " Actually , I was about to..."

"Hmm...." responded Kalash.

Shekhar looked at me once and then asked " How do you know each other ? "

Shekhar looked a little worried. He knew that I was into men. He knew my sexuality . To make the matter more interesting he knew I had a crush on the great Kalash Roychoudhary. Probably this is the very reason that he never disclosed to me that Kalash was his brother. Also Kalash had not come out before his family so that explained everything.

"Well we both met at a coffee shop. So we thought of knowing each other over a car ride. After coming here , Amrit offered me a cup of coffee and I could not say a no ..." said Kalash.

"But , Daada , like , you should not have come over here..." said Shakhar possessively to his big brother .

"What ? why ? Now you tell me whom I should meet and whom I should not ? " asked Kalash in a voice of reprimanding Shekhar.

"No ...no...Daada , you are not understanding . I am meaning something else..." said Shekhar hesitating a little.

I raised my eyebrows a little.

I know Shekhar liked me. He was a good friend of mine. But this was a time when he was being a possesive and loving little brother to his big brother.

I did not take Shekhar's behaviour otherwise. He did not know yet that his brother was into men like me. He was trying to safeguard his brother . I liked his loyalty and love towards his big brother.

Kalash smiled and said " What Shekhar ? What else ? "

"Actually , Daada , you are not getting what I am trying to tell you.." said Shekhar trying to explain himself in front of his Daada.

Kalash smiled and said " It's okay , Shekhar , I understand what you are trying to say. Actually , I have already asked Amrit out this weekend. " said Kalash smiling and jovially looking at me.

I raised a brow up at Kalash. He actually came out in front of his adoptive brother.

"Oh , you asked him out , that's a good thing. He is a nice guy ...." said Shekhar without thinking anything.

After a pause of five seconds , probably Shekhar realised because he said ,

" Wait , Daada , you did what ? " asked Shekhar shocked .

Poor Shekhar . His face was to be seen then . He was so surprised and shocked that even if one day we saw the Aliens landing on earth , our faces would not be so surprised. His face showed that the information was too much for him to handle.

I actually stifled a laugh.

"Yes , Shekhar , you heard it right . I asked Amrit out. " said Kalash.

" But , how , why ..." asked Shekhar utterly confused.

Kalash smiled and said " If I told you that I like Amrit , will you disown me from being your big brother ? " asked Kalash with a lopsided smile.

Shekhar looked at Kalash without saying anything. In that moment , I understood , that the very fundamental question of love was going on in Shekhar's mind. How much did he love his big brother to accept his sexuality too.

I looked at Kalash . Kalash had a content smile on his lips. He was confident. He had all the faith on his little brother's love.

Shekhar looked at Kalash and said " I can't believe you ..."

Kalash's smile was at the verge of fading from his lips. He expression was as if to hit something unexpected.

"I can't believe that you hid such an important thing about yourself from me. I thought that I was your younger brother. More than that I thought that I was your best friend. I thought that you tell me even the smallest thing about your life. You tell me even what you ate through out the day. But you hid such a big thing about yourself. Of course why will you tell me ? I am just an adopted one in your family. I am not your own brother. I am not your blood. Why will you tell me..." said Shekhar . Tears started to flow on his cheeks. He was hurt, it was evident in his speech.

"No...no...Shekhar , babu , it's not like that..." tried Kalash to explain his loving younger brother.

But Shekhar did not stay there any more. He went out of the door of the office with tears all over his face, which he was deliberately trying to hide.

"Goodness..." uttered Kalash.

I looked at the scene . I did not know what to do. Suddenly the whole situation took a different turn.

Kalash looked at me helpless.

I looked at Kalash and said " I understand . Go behind him . He needs his big brother right now. "

Kalash nodded his head .

"Thanks , but we are going out for this weekend's date..that's for sure.." said Kalash.

He pulled a pen out of his pocket and wrote his personal number on the back of his business card . He gave that card to me quickly .

He said " I need to run ,Amrit. But remember our date and give me a missed call right now so that I can have your number..."

He said that and went outside the door of the office.

"Yah, I will ..." said I from his back.

I could hear Kalash's expensive shoes stomping out of my office.

I looked at the business card. It had "Kalash Roychowdhary " etched on it with golden letters with his designation as Managing Director of the Roychaudhary Industries.

I smiled at my hands.

I did not know if there was something like Law of Attraction working or not. But at that moment , I actually had the business card with personal number of my crush at my hands then.

I pulled out my phone from my pocket. I quickly dialed the new number. I could hear the ring from the other side twice . I then disconnected the phone. The missed call went.

I smiled at my phone on my hands. My crush had my number then.
