Chapter 4

Jaden POV     I pulled the trigger and felt a wave of satisfaction coursing through my body. I watched with devilish joy as I saw the soul leaving his body.     As soon as we left the office building, one of my henchman Rick called informing us that one of Giovanni's Assassins was following us. I had enough of that bastard's bullshit. I knew that when I put a target on his back this bastard would not live to see the sun. Usually I don't like getting my hands dirty. I leave all that up to my men. But this bastard followed us and I knew I had to end him right away. Nobody messes with me and my family and then lives to tell the tale.     “Let’s get out of here before anybody sees us and Call Hunter and tell him to clean up this mess," I instructed my brother James while looking at the lifeless body before me.      While putting the gun back in my holster, I felt a prickling on the back of my neck as if someone was watching me. I turned around and saw someone standing there behind me. The sight took me by surprise because it’s quite late and this place is usually deserted at this time of the night. My eyes focused in and then I saw a woman holding a little kitten in her hand. She looked alarmed. I am guessing by what she had just witnessed. For a moment I thought about going towards her but I barely had time to react as she turned on her heels and dashed away and I was left blatantly staring at her retreating ass.      "Let's go" I snapped my head in James's direction.       Stepping away from the body I said, "Let's stop by the club first. I badly need a drink."       We got into our car and James motioned the driver to take us to the club. Instantly my thoughts went to the woman I saw standing there. Who was she? I know she saw the body. Hope she doesn’t go blabbering to anybody or else she is going to be in helluva trouble.     As soon as we reached the club, music pounded loudly in my ears. Usually we sit in the VIP lounge on the second level, where we drink and chill.       Instead today I want some peace of mind so we make our way to the office on the third level. The thing about the Club's office is that this office brings some kind of peace after a long tiring day of work which my other office doesn't.        I sat on the chair behind the huge black mahogany desk while James sat on the black leather couch adjacent to the desk. The lights in the office were dim just like my mood. I was still f*****g pissed at Giovanni.       “Jaden, we need to do something about Giovanni. He stabbed us in the back. How dare he get in bed with that pathetic excuse for a man William and is now trying to bring us down! The f*****g audacity of those bastards,” James voiced my thoughts as he retrieved the bottle of whiskey from the mini bar in the corner of the office, poured a drink and handed me a glass.     “Calm down James, we know that William is desperate. His Redstone business is going down. He is under a lot of pressure from his creditors. He has been trying to destroy our empire since the time our business flourished. I bet he has promised Giovanni something in return or else he won’t risk it at all. We just need to find out what it is. And then we can plan our move. There is no way in hell I will let them get away with this. They are messing with the wrong person and they will pay for it,” I answered as I chugged my whiskey in one go and reached for the bottle for a refill.     As we were discussing our plan, James’ phone rang. “It’s Peter, one of my men. What does he want at this hour?” He informed me frowning while picking up the call.      Slightly annoyed by the interruption, I twirled my chair towards the full length window behind my chair which offered a beautiful view of the Chicago city. Ah! I love night time and the darkness it brings. Suddenly my thoughts wandered to the incident which happened ten years ago. The darkness started enveloping me and I started feeling edgy.      Immediately I pushed those thoughts away before it had the chance to consume me and steered my thoughts in the direction of the girl I had seen. For some reason I had the urge to go chasing after her when she ran away earlier. She looked so petite and innocent holding that kitten in her hand. I think she can barely hurt a fly, let alone be a threat to us.      “Brother I think we might have a lead regarding William,” James said, breaking me from my reverie. I raised my eyebrow at him questioningly.           Apparently, someone threw a stone at some girl's apartment and a note was wrapped around the stone which bore the Redstone mark. I found it a bit suspicious. So I have asked Peter to bring them here,” James continued.      "Are you out of your mind James? Why did you call them here? It may be some kind of joke that was being played on them. Since when have we gotten into the job of rescuing young girls? Can you think with your brain rather than your d**k for once? We have a lot of work as it is,” I glared at him. I was so pissed at his immature behaviour.      He just winked and grinned at me. I rolled my eyes at him.      “I am not making any promises. If you want to help them then go ahead. I have better things to do with my time.” I closed my eyes and pinched the bridge of the nose with my fingers.      “Jaden, calm down brother,” he smirked,” It’s nice to have fun sometimes… you know let loose. Who knows these girls might be down for some quick f**k. We might get something out of this. Anyway I know  it’s been a long time since you got laid.” James joked. I fought the urge to smash his head on the table.      “I don’t want to LET LOOSE, You don’t need to worry about what I do and who I f**k. Mind your own business.” I gritted my teeth.      “Woah Woah chill brother", He said smirking while holding his hands up in the air as if surrendering.     After some time, there was a knock on the order, already exasperated, thanks to James, I bellowed. “ENTER”.      I heard shuffling and heard a man’s voice, “Boss” causing me to twirl my chair around and there she was, the same girl whom I had seen earlier this evening. She was accompanied by a younger girl and judging by the looks of her she appeared to be her sister and a man I assumed to be Peter. A smirk formed on my lips as I looked at her face.      My eyes raked over her taking in every detail of her appearance. From her brown locks that reached upto her waist, her calm and observant hazel eyes to her sneaker clad feet. She is wearing the same jeans and white t-shirt which she wore earlier which read 'Chicago bulls'. It hugged tightly to her body accentuating her curves in all the right places.      I was thankful to lady luck for being by my side today. My kitten has come willingly into the lion’s den. She was looking around and as her gaze landed on me our eyes locked and I noticed that they went wide. Her eyes roamed over my physique. Was she checking me out? The corner of my lips quirked.  Oh! This is going to be fun. ~•~•~•
