Annabel’s POV It still felt like a dream. I couldn't believe what I had heard. I sniffed in bed. The tears didn’t stop. Not the soft, cinematic kind. The ugly ones—the gasping kind, where my chest hurt and I couldn’t breathe properly. My phone sat on the nightstand, black screen facedown, as if even it couldn’t look at me.
