Kaneki lay on the floor, chest heaving. The shadows were gone—or at least, they seemed gone.
“…he’s alive,” Jenni whispered, eyes wide.
Jeheak stared at the notebook. The words glowed faintly:
“They are one now.”
“…one? One what?” he muttered.
The house shifted around them, walls groaning, air thick with energy. It wasn’t just empty—it was awake. Watching.
Jay cracked his knuckles. “Well…guess we’re not done. I didn’t come for nothing.”
Maria’s glare cut through the tension. “Focus, Jay. We need a plan before it comes back.”
Kaneki slowly pushed himself up, shaking. “…did we…really stop it?”
Jenni grabbed his shoulder. “…for now. But it’s not over. Not even close.”
The notebook trembled. Ink spilled across the page, forming new words almost like a warning:
“New shapes form. New monsters wait.”
Jeheak’s stomach dropped. “…more of them.”
Kaneki groaned, holding his head. “…it’s inside me too. Part of it stayed.”
Jenni gripped his hand. “…then we face it. Together.”
Shadows returned, slithering from cracks in the walls, eyes glowing, forms impossible. They weren’t just shadows now—they were alive.
Jewels read aloud, voice trembling. “…it’s forming them—our fears, our worst parts. Our monsters.”
Kat clenched her fists. “…then we define them first. Together.”
All six pressed their hands to the pen. Light spread from it, spilling onto the pages:
“We are ourselves. We are together. We are monsters—but our monsters serve us.”
The shadows twisted, confused, shrinking back slightly.
Kaneki pushed himself up, eyes blazing. “…let’s show them who we really are.”
The house shook. The wind screamed. Cracks ran along the walls.
But for the first time, all six of them stood together. Scared—but unbroken.
Because now…they weren’t just fighting monsters.
They were becoming them.
