Chapter 10
I couldn’t tell Mom. She’d think I was losing my mind. I ran the straightening iron through the last section of my hair and released the clip I had separating the chunks. Opening the top drawer beneath my bathroom sink, I pulled out my face powder. As I swiped my brush across my nose, I shook my head.
“It was just a dream,” I said aloud, hoping to convince the slight tremor in my hand. “It was a dream, and you freaked yourself out.” Dropping the powder back in the drawer, I reached for my eyeshadow and brush and stroked my favorite color over my lids before dabbing my lashes with mascara. After slathering on some lip gloss, I pulled my fingers through my hair and tried a smile that quickly turned to a frown.
