My heart got stuck in my throat as we walked into the clinical room that was the therapist’s office. In front of a brown wooden desk sat what I would guess was a middle-aged woman. Her pointed nose stood out in the air and her sharp gaze gently moved from Jacob to me and then back to Jacob again. The woman easily made me feel self-conscious. Her dark auburn hair was styled in a pixie cut and she was dressed in minimal golden jewelry.
