Chapter 3

My fingers formed fists as they repeatedly hit the man I was to marry in less than an hour. “How could you bring him here?” I screamed “You seemed stubborn and I don't like having any complications,” He gave a curt reply with his hands folded behind his back. “Father,” I called, my voice came off as if that one word held a silent plea that only Father and I could understand. My father only stared at the ground in shame. He had been belittled to the status of that of a slave dog, having no say in his own life much less that of his family. “You want to get married? No problem. You want babies? No problem. I'll do exactly as you say just leave my family alone,” I said through my teeth with my fingers clenching by my sides. I was beyond angry. “Perfect, now you understand.” The bastard dared to laugh. He took my hand in his and led me to my matrimonial disaster. Upon our entrance, the officiant’s expression changed from confused, to scared, and finally a fake show of excitement. He probably could read how inconvenient the situation was for both of us. I received quite a shock when I saw that Mr. Price had all my ID and documents ready for our marriage. He was not joking when he said he had connections and was willing to use them. We quickly signed the marriage papers and had the bodyguards sign as witnesses. That was it, I had officially become Jocelyn Price, wife to business tycoon, Jacob Price. “Let him go, take off the handcuffs,” Mr. Price commanded as soon as we stepped outside. My father sobbed for the umpteenth time day. “Please, forgive me, Jocelyn.” Mr. Price held my hand and brought me to his side. “Don't you dare speak to my wife!” I looked up at him in shock, appalled that he would say something like that. My eyes then moved to that of my father's. He looked so helpless and I yearned to comfort him but I couldn't. “Father it's okay. I'll be fine,” I said to him finally. My father nodded and left, taking a piece of my heart with him as well. “Now for the rules,” Mr. Price said as the driver drove us to the Price mansion. “Yes Sir,” I replied with my head low. “Now that is a problem.” I quickly lifted my head and looked at him with my eyebrows raised. “Did I do something wrong?” “Yes. Rule number one, do not refer to me as ‘Sir’. I am your husband now so you refer to me as Jacob or Jake, whichever you prefer. This marriage has to look real,” He said matter-of-factly. “Yes, Jacob,” I replied. I was ready to do anything this man wanted. “Rule number two, no one is to know of your background or how we came to be married. Not about the poisoning of my grandfather. Not about being the daughter of a maid and a driver. And most definitely not your educational background. As far as everyone is concerned, we eloped together and got married because we are so in love,” He continued. “We’ll discuss details of how we met later,” He finished. I nodded my head in understanding. “Rule number three, we are to be comfortable with each other in public.” Mr. Price I mean Jacob then shifted a bit closer to my side of the car. My heartbeat peaked at the sudden physical contact. He looked me in the eyes with those blue-green orbs of his and took my hand. He interlocked them and kissed the top of my hand. My mouth hung open in awe at his sudden act of affection. This was not the Mr. Price I had known earlier. “Don't be surprised, we are husband and wife, are we not?” “Y-yes we are Mr- sorry I mean J-Jacob.” My voice came out in a light whisper. His free hand came to my cheek and his thumb circle of soft spot there. He lowered his head and his lips met mine. Soft, light, and gentle, were the perfect words to describe his lips. His lips were teasing. They gently opened mine and I gave him a free entrance. His hand was no longer on my cheek, instead, it had found its way to the small of my back where he pulled me even closer to deepen the kiss. Our tongues and lips danced in symphony. I had never experienced something like this and I never wanted to stop. If this was one of the few things I would do being married to a bastard like Jacob then I would happily take it. Jacob released me and I began to gasp for air. How long did we kiss? My hands unconsciously moved to my lips, feeling the place where Jacob’s lips had just claimed only moments back. “Don’t be surprised. That would be happening a lot now. Count it as one of your wifely duties,” Jacob announced moving back to his side of the car. “Yes, Jacob.” “Rule number four, you are dress, talk, walk and overall act like a wife fit for a multi-billionaire business magnate.” He glanced over at me and his eyes skimmed over the shabby dress I put on. “I will work on that Si- Jacob. I will learn to talk how you want me to, walk only as you deem fit, and act like a good and respectful wife.” Jacob’s deep stare stopped me from continuing any further. It was intense enough to make me feel vulnerable and bare in front of this man. His blue-green ocean eyes held a sea of vast emotion I couldn't decipher, making the hairs on my body stand. “It's a good thing you understand,” He finally spoke. I nodded. “But there is one thing though, I don’t think I own any clothes that would fit into the look you desire of me.” He laughed. “Don’t forget that you have now become the wife of a billionaire. Felicia will make sure you are dressed accordingly.” I nodded in understanding. It wasn't like he was demanding too much of me for now, so I could take it. I would be the best Jocelyn Price I could be for Father. The rest of the car ride was silent. My eyes carefully studied my husband as he typed away furiously on his iPad. His eyebrows were tight, slightly drawing downward. His dark hair was styled in a way that suited him well -short at the sides, long at the top -and even if it was messy, the messiness only made him look attractive. His jaw was cut at a perfect angle without a single hair on it to distract you from its perfection. It gave a little softness to the menacing aura that followed him. The car came to a stop and outside stood boldly the Price mansion. “Rule number five, you are to carry out your wifely duties in the bedroom as I still do need a child. Tonight we consummate our marriage,” Jacob said without warning.
