My head rang like a million fire alarms had been set off in it all at once. The pain it caused felt unbearable but there was nothing I could do to remedy the situation. I tried to open my eyes but they felt too heavy to lift. My back was on something soft but what? It felt like I was on a bed but I wasn't sure. Weary and worried all at once, I tossed and turned as my breaths came out in heavier puffs. I prayed for the pain to stuff. I wanted to open my mouth to scream but it felt like someone had glued my lips shut.
In my sorry state, I began to hear different voices. Some sounded distant and some closer than others. The voices only made my headache more so I tossed and turned even harder.
