12. A Date

Bella's POV "It's all staged! How can you not have faith in me?" Becky yelled at me with disbelief in her eyes. I could see her trembling in bitterness. I yearned to give her a shoulder and tell her it's alright, I forgive you. But I resisted myself from showing an act of kindness. We both had to face the reality. "Are you saying that the video is fake then?" I asked calmly looking at her disgruntled face which was screaming the fact that she is trying to fabricate reality. "Yes, it's all made-up bullshit. It was devised to make me look bad Bella. You gotta believe me!" She tried her utmost to persuade me that she was telling the truth. "Ok, let's believe that the video is fake. It was given to me so I doubt you, your loyalty. Regardless of that, can you explain what the blond-haired guy said to me? He didn't come to meet me, rather I went to the organisation and accidentally met him. He didn't even know what his friend tried to do to me. On the contrary, you knew that a guy followed me even though I never told you at first," I was out of breath. I rambled until I had nothing more to say. Everything was said and done. Becky glanced at me silently with a blank expression. Her complexion looked pale. It seemed like she was about to say something but she didn't. I stared at her as she walked away from me. She didn't even look back for a mere second. I was expecting something from her, maybe an answer, an honest explanation of what happened. Wanted to forget the past and move on but she didn't seem eager to strive. We went back to the class and sat on separate benches. She was avoiding eye- contact on purpose so I stopped looking at her. Before the lunch break, I was called to the headmaster's office. "Isabella dear, I'm extremely sad about what happened to you a few days ago in our school's lavatory. I already talked to your parents regarding this issue but I wanted to apologise to you as well. We are recruiting more security guards for the students' safety. We will also try our best to find out who did this to you…" Our headmaster explained trying to comfort me about what happened to me in the bathroom that day. Miss Margaret and a few other teachers were present too. "It's completely fine ma'am. I've already gotten over the incident and I won't mention this to anyone. I don't want to hinder the reputation of our institution because of this occurrence," I assured them that I won't make this a gossip topic before they could even forbid me not to. By the time I left the headmaster's room, it was already lunch break. I went to the small garden and sat there alone. Nobody usually comes here around this time because everyone is mostly busy with buying and eating around the canteen area or outside. I laid down on the grass gently and closed my eyes thinking about everything. Even though I can already guess who planned the bathroom incident, I have no solid evidence at the end. I didn't even show them Mr Stalker's video either because that would raise more questions. He's my little secret. I wrapped my arms around me trying to comfort myself. I couldn't help but cry silently thinking about Me and Becky. I heard my phone beeping quite a few times but I was reluctant to check until I got a call. I picked up the call and said hello, wiping my runny nose. "And here I was thinking you wouldn't pick up but you did," I heard Mr Stalker's soothing voice from the other side. "I really have to acquire the habit of viewing the number before picking up calls," I was very happy he called me because at that moment I needed someone the most. "Would you not have picked up the call if you saw it was me?" He asked childishly with a hint of sullenness in his voice. I wiped my tears and said being sarcastic, "No, I would have cut the call deliberately." I heard his soft giggles which played music in my ears. "You have such a nice voice…" I confessed honestly. "I'm glad you like my voice because you'll be hearing it a lot," He replied. I wondered if he was smiling while talking to me. Thank you for calling me but aren't you gonna be poof in a few minutes?" I inquired. "How can I leave my love alone when she needs me most greatly," He talked as if he was reading poetry. "Tell me where shall I find you? Are you ever intending on meeting me in real life?" I pouted. "Find me where the sunlight kisses the fallen leaves, find me where the earth is moist and damp. Where it smells of woods, where the oak tree's lonely heart is waiting for you with a message…" He quoted. "A message?" I asked, curiously. "Go find out yourself then Bella," He replied mysteriously, bewildering me to the core. I stood up thinking what did he try to mean exactly. A place where the sunlight touches the fallen leaves, smell of woods, oak tree… I thought for a minute. "Oh, I got it!" I beamed with a smile of victory. I ran to the nearby woods and came to the big oak tree. This oak has a small hole in the middle where people used to keep their secret messages for their significant others a long time ago. I stepped on the fallen leaves as I walked on them and reached the big old oak tree. There was a rustling sound surrounding me. I could feel the sweet cool breeze of the coming winter on my face. I looked at the middle of the oak tree and found a letter with a beautiful red rose. I wonder if this heart has touched your heart yet… I wonder if you would give me the chance to hold you again… I wonder if you will agree to Dance with me here, on your coming prom night... I'll take your smile as my answer… I realised I was already smiling reading his message. I covered my face, flustered.
