Ava Duval
Ava thought she had been dreaming when she woke up, but when her eyes opened to a new day, Damian was already by her side with a steaming cup of coffee in hand.
"Good morning..." He whispered sweetly as he handed the cup to her. "You can sleep in today. I have taken care of everything so you don't have to worry about anything. The kids are already in school, and I've already made breakfast for you."
Adding to that, he provided a big tray that was filled with all sorts of food that Ava felt the laughter bubbling in her chest.
"Babe!" She chuckled. "This is so huge! Am I supposed to finish all these?"
Damian's mouth curved into a bright smile as he nodded.
"Yes, you're going to eat everything. Those are the foods that the nutritionist recommended in the hospital. By the way," His brows pulled into a frown, "I tried to clear the hospital bills, but I was told it was already paid for. I didn't know you had that amount of money in your account. That was—"
"No, no..." Ava cut in. "The owner of the hospital cleared them for me. He was the one who found me."
Ava's eyes dimmed slightly at the memories, and not just that, but the guilt that flooded her heart when she remembered making love to Damian last night, and the dream she had.
It wasn't Damian she was seeing anymore, but the man that saved her. The way his grey eyes bore into her soul in last night's dream when she was supposed to be thinking and dreaming of Damian.
"Whoever he is, I guess I owe him my life." That statement made Ava's eyes snap to meet him.
"Your life? I was the one who almost died and..."
"If you died, I would be dead too." He sounded wistful. "My life would be bleak and gone forever without you by my side, and that's why you are my life."
Thoughts of the stranger who helped her completely vanished from her mind, and all she could think about was Damian and his corny lines that made her blush, made her heart swell, and made her feel the butterflies in her tummy.
"Stop it..." She giggled and covered her face with a blanket to hide how happy she was. "It's too early for all these."
"Nothing should be too early for you, babe. Your eyes need to shine more often, and I'm sorry for being the reason..."
"It's okay, baby." Ava squeezed his hands to her cheeks. "Let's move past this, okay? Let's put the past behind us."

Ava stepped out of her room later in the afternoon after showering, and Damian had excused himself and gone to his study to have some work done for the company, and she went to the kitchen to make his favourite dishes. Plus, the children would be back home soon from school.
When she was done and everything was beautifully plated, she took it towards the study, but stopped in her tracks when she heard a conversation that made her blood run cold.
"She believes every single word, baby." Damian's ears was pressed to his phone as he grinned.
"She believes we are fighting and that you ran away after abandoning the kids." He chuckled slightly. "Also, do you know that we've just hit one of the biggest jackpots in history?"
He paused and waited for the woman on the other end to answer. The woman, whom Ava knew to be Serena, answered.
"She is the biological daughter of Marcus Vance, do you know that?" He paused and chuckled again.
"Exactly! I had to confirm that it wasn't a prank through reliable sources. Do you know the amount of money she can bring to us now if we keep up this charade?"
He paused again and waited for Serena to speak. "I thought having her sign those papers and kicking her out of the company was the only way out, but I will have to revise it and put a clause for her inheritance. At this rate, she already trusts me and would say yes in a heartbeat."
Damian shuffled the papers on his desk and changed his position. "How is our child doing? I hope he isn't giving you much trouble?"
His voice had gotten more serious. "You know, I sent all the maids over to your place so they would do everything you want. You aren't to lift a finger too." He paused.
"No, baby. Ava will take care of the children so that you will have a safe delivery. You know how troublesome they can get, and I don't want you getting stressed by all their drama. Ava will do all that, okay? No, listen, I will make sure she doesn't hurt them. You don't have to worry your pretty little head about anything."

Tears brimmed in Ava's eyes as she went out driving again, this time with Damian's car.
How could she be so stupid? How could she be so naive and thoughtless. Was she that devoted to Damian that she didn't ask questions when he came begging for her out of the blues?
And how was he talking about throwing her out of the company when she held a considerable amount of shares in the company.
What else was he planning? First it was her children, her womb, her kidney, and now the company she abandoned her fashion designing business to pour all her sweat and blood into?
By the time she stepped into the Blackwood Tech company that she had built with Damian, everyone began staring at her weirdly. The receptionist was the first to look up, and her face went pale.
"Mrs. Ava... I didn't know you were coming. I would have alerted the CEO."
"Alerted the CEO?" Ava's brows pulled together in a frown. "I am also the CEO here. Damian and I both own this company, so what are you saying?"
The receptionist gulped. "Well, since you haven't been to the company in months... We, uhmm..." She swallowed, fidgeting in her spot.
"The CEO said you were recovering from your, eh, mental stuff... And he took over. He showed us the signed papers that you handed some of your rights to him."
What? Damian was throwing lies around the company that she was mentally unstable?
Thinking about it now, she remembered signing some papers for him a few months back, but she didn't think too much about it because she trusted him with her life. So, this was what he was up to?
That meant that this paper that Damian was waiting for her to sign was giving out full ownership to him. She was going to get kicked out of everything she had ever loved and sacrificed for.
