Chapter 7-2

2044 Words

Clark, obviously expecting the hit, was still bucked and thrown completely off. Involuntarily, Clark was curling in on himself, an inevitable aftereffect of a blow to the nuts. Lucian swung his legs with grace, crouching next to Clark and clearly vibrating with the effort it took him not to do more violence, God help Clark, but Lucian at last took a breath and viciously shoved his hair away from his face. The entire display took less than ten seconds. Clark moaned around a laugh while Lucian stood and adjusted his clothing. “i***t,” Lucian pronounced. “Clark, dear heart, I hope you had a point worthy of all that,” Daniel said. “Was it necessary to kick him in the balls?” Shea asked as Lucian swept into his chair with the dignity of a cat who had not, in fact, just stumbled off a ledge.
