Chapter 3 Ellis Ellis was closing the shop Tuesday evening when Clark called. Ellis answered on the second set of ring chimes. “Hey.” “Hi there,” Clark said, voice rich and warm and sending thrills down Ellis’s spine. “Are you busy?” Clark asking that question could mean anything. “Nah, just shutting the place down for the night. What’s up?” Ellis sat on a stool behind a locked counter. “Haven’t seen enough of you in a while,” Clark replied, playful yet controlled. God, how did he do that?
