The ground beneath Bryn’s feet seemed to pitch, and suddenly gravity wasn’t working properly. A tremor shot up Bryn’s legs, spine, and neck. It left him weak, like he hadn’t eaten anything in two days, and he vaguely wondered when he had, in fact, last had a meal. It might have been yesterday. But all he’d done was sleep the day away. Irrationally, he thought it might be the stairwell that had rocked his balance, and he let go of the railing. He stumbled, and Ellis caught his arm. “You all right?” Bryn didn’t answer immediately.
