She remembered hitting the floor, Lucian's body shielding her. The windows had exploded, the lights had gone out. She remembered hearing feathers fluttering and Lucifer screaming profanities. People screamed as she had been pushed under a table with David. Something had
hit her in the head and everything after that was blackness.
Her ears were ringing when she woke up. They were alone in the ball room, her and David, who was crying next to her. She felt a lump on the side of her head and winced. She was surrounded by broken glass, and spilt champagne, white and grey feathers stuck to the floor. Everything was quiet except the sound in her ears and David's sobbing but when she managed to get up and out from under the table she picked David up to comfort him and looked around. The lights were out, she could hear no traffic noise, or people in the street. The sky was dark, not a star, or even the moon was visible.
Standing she could feel warmth running down her cheek, the bump on her head was bleeding and she searched for something to wipe it with. A fancy cloth napkin was what she found and pressed it to her head. Putting a chair upright, she sat David down to inspect him, to see if he was hurt: she found nothing on him, and she sat there, in the dark and in the quiet and waited. She had no idea what was happening, or where anyone was.
She didn't even know how long she had been out. But she suddenly felt uneasy, and a voice came into her ears that sounded like silver bells. Looking up from her lap, where David lay sleeping she saw it again. That Angel from the cathedral...what had he called her? Bella...Bella Fleur. Beautiful Flower. And so she was. Golden hair over her shoulders, she no longer wore the white tank top and torn jeans. Her feet were no longer bare. Her wings presented themselves in full glory, though her halo remained on her head like a silver crown of olive branches. She wore silver armor over her chest, chevrons on her arms and plates over her legs. All carved in the delicate language and symbols of the Celestial Beings.
She could feel the hot stickiness that was far too familiar to her, but which she had not felt in years now. It ran down out of her hair, and it already dripped to the floor from her wrists. "Please. Stop." She was able to just get the words out as her vision started to haze. She clung to David, despite the blood draining from her.
"Come with me, and you will be safe." The voice again, it was as if her lips hadn't moved, like she had spoken directly into Addison’s soul. It hurt, her chest felt tight and she was starting to lose feeling in her hands. But she reached out toward the Cherub non-the-less.
"Bella! Don't you dare!" Another familiar voice; she pulled her hand backward. Levi stood in the doorway of the ballroom with Satan, the both of them battered and bloodied. What happened next, she does not know, for she blacked out, blood still oozing from wounds that had
sealed themselves years ago.
.......
When she came too, she was in a darkened hotel room, Lucian cleaning the blood off her forehead. She could feel the cloth pulling over the wounds on her forehead and hair line and squeezed her eyes shut. "That hurts, stop..." She felt her lip was swollen and her tongue darted
out to taste coppery blood.
"You bit your lip when you passed out."
"Where's David...?" Sudden panic she tried to sit up but was pressed back down.
"He's with Lucifer, he's okay."
"What Happened?" She again tried to sit up, scooting herself up against the headboard and holding her head as her brain pounded away at her skull. She looked around. Several others were there, Mammon, Levi, and Satan all sat at a table in deep in conversation. She looked back to Lucian for an answer.
"The Rapture happened, the war’s begun."
"And I got left behind..." she seemed disappointed that when God had Reaped the worthy souls from earth that she had not been taken too. She felt his hand on the side of her face, thumb caressing her cheek.
"God left you behind a long time ago Addy. We are the ones who will take care of you, not Him." She leaned into his hand, her own hand reaching up to take it.
"What happens now? How did I get here?"
"I don't know, and Levi and Satan found you, carried you out of the ball room with David. Bella put up quite the fight, I'm surprised honestly." He watched as her eyes searched the darkness of blacked out memory for any kind of recollection of that happening. She frowned and looked down.
"How long is this going to last?"
"Seven years. Seven years of war on earth, and then it will be determined who will gain 1000 years of rein."
"Seven years..." she seemed distant as she spoke the words but she reacted when she felt his arms close around her. She put her face in his shoulder and gave a slow breath, holding back whatever emotion she was feeling.
