Chapter13

Alicia Just a few more months and then I will have a good job to settle down. “What are you doing?” I looked up to find him leaning in to see my designs. I jumped a bit. “Are you okay?” “I was scared a bit.” “Did I scare you?” “If you are this close all of a sudden, then it will definitely scare me.” I looked at him, and he smirked, which didn’t give me a good vibe. He leaned in, which made my heart beat faster. “If you keep on getting scared of me being close to you, then you might miss a chance.” “What chance are you talking about?” I asked him, but instead of giving me an answer, he made himself settle on the bed. “Who knows!” He smirked after saying that. “Is there any new trend of keeping people under suspension?” “I have never heard of such a trend.” “Then why don’t you tell me what you meant by that?” “Why not save it for a good day? By the way, I was the first one to ask what you were doing. You didn’t give me any answer.” I sighed. The way he is manipulating me so that I don’t keep on asking me about that, is really childish. If he doesn’t want to tell me right now, then it is useless for me to push him more. “I am completing the projects for my course.” He stood up from his seat and came to my desk. He picked up one of the papers and examined it as if he was an expert in that field. “This design is a bit old, isn’t it? Did you take some reference or something?” My eyes were wide open when he figured it out. “Do you have knowledge of this field?” He shook his head. “I have a cousin's sister who, just like me, is an only child to their parents, so we have been close since young and her interest in jewelry was at an extreme peak. Whenever she used to find something related to it, she would tell me first and from there I got a bit of my knowledge.” I looked at him with hope in my eyes, and he gave me a weird look. “If I conclude, you sure have a great talent. Keep it up. I will make some lunch for us.” He was about to make a run for his life, but I held on to his arm. “Please help me.” “Don’t ask that from me. I ain’t any expert.” He was putting some force into releasing himself, which was an advantage to me. “Your sister must have taught you well that you were able to recognize it. Please help me.” He sighed. “I don’t want to ruin your project.” He said while trying to push away my arms. “You don’t have to do anything. Just guide me with whatever knowledge you have. It might benefit me in some way.” “You won’t let it go?” I shook my head and he sighed. “Alright, but if something goes wrong, then I won’t be responsible for it.” “I can agree with that term.” “But first let me do something. It is already going to be lunchtime soon enough.” After saying that, he went away from there. I never expected something like that from him. I had secretly searched for him online. I was kind of shocked to know that this person is so splendid in his field. His father must be so proud of him, but I am unable to understand how his family was unable to find him. He should have been gone like so many days before, but he is still here with me. I blushed a little at the last two words. But thinking about how his family must love him as he is the only child made me think further about where I remembered mine. Are they even sad that I have left that place? Thinking about them will only make my heart sink so much. Did they even try to know where I was or was it okay for them that a problem was outside their heads? I shook my head. Why do I keep on thinking about that? Nothing will change if I keep on thinking about them. “Hey, where are you lost?” I came out of my thoughts and found him in front of me. “Umm…just thinking about improving my designs.” He nodded and placed the food in front of me, and it was pasta. I could say that I was already drooling over the food. “Don’t drool over the food. That is all yours anyway.” I nodded and dug into that and I have to say that it was awesome. “You do make good food.” “They aren’t at your level.” “Nah, your pasta is definitely better than mine.” “If you say so.” “Won’t you be eating?” “I will have some.” He went outside and got himself a plate of pasta. We both talked about random things over our meal and more like he was teasing me. “Now shall we get onto your project.” I nodded right away, he took away the dishes and came into the room again. “I feel bad that you have to do so much work. You are a temporary guest and yet you have to work so much.” I said. “Don’t worry, I am already doing nothing, so this is the least I can do.” I didn’t say anything about that. Him being home has been a great help for me. Because of him, my weekends are saved. I don’t have to clean for so long and sometimes if I forget to cook something for me, then he is already there to prepare something for me. He even takes care of my diet. I wonder how I will be able to leave when he leaves. I saw the clicking of fingers in front of me which brought me back to the earth. I gave him a confused look. “Madam, aren’t you zoning out a lot today?” I scratched the back of my neck. “I am sorry about that. Today I guess thinking about one thing leads to another thing and that is why I am zoning out.” “What are you actually thinking about?” “Just random things.” I could feel that he wanted to ask more, but restrained himself. “Well, what do you think about this?” He looked at it and analyzed it. I was pretty nervous. “This can work, but it still needs more improvisation.” “What do you think I can improve?” “Here, look at this part, you can draw something else. This just doesn’t feel that good.” “I was out of ideas, so I drew that randomly.” He sighed. “That won’t work, Ms. Alicia Nelson. You have to do your work properly.” And just like that, he kept on guiding me, which I would gladly like to refer to as nagging. Though I was asking myself why I did ask for his help, knowing that he was telling me good pointers, I let that slip.
