Derek shuffled through a pile of shirts laid out on a table at the Walk-In Cafe. It was helpful to be able to use the machines to wash his laundry and sometimes pick up something new to wear. There was a free lunch on offer today and he hadn’t realised. He decided to stick around for a feed and then, depending on how he felt, maybe take a ride out to Sandgate again. It was a good half-hour train trip but Derek had time to kill. There was something deeply alluring about that place, the wide bay that stretched all the way out to Moreton Island.
