The Grim reaper stood up, staring into her soul with those cold red eyes of his. His stare made her uncomfortable, he stared again, this time more determined to see something. He couldn't see her future or her past. Normally, when he stares at humans, he sees their memories but hers was not the case and she could see his eyes, what was she??
Ava felt uncomfortable by his stare, she regretted saying anything, she took steps back, but he was waking towards her, she was scared now. She missed her footing, her leg crossed over each other and she was falling, her eyes widening as he held desperately unto his jacket. In that instant, an energy surged from the touch extending to the whole place. The world stood still, everything literally froze, the people and time froze.
When Ava had balanced herself, she turned around and stared at the environment in shock, everything froze, including Martin. She looked around again, this time cleaning her eyes, she wanted to be sure they were not playing a joke on her. She turned to face the man standing before her. At this time, they were the only ones moving.
" What did you do?" She asked in fear
" More like, what did you do? " He threw the question back at her . He was surprised by this human.
" So my eyes were not playing a joke on me that day at the bar" she realized " Who are you?"
" What is your place to ask me that? You're nothing but a lowly human"
Ava was hurt by his words
" I wish time would tick again" she said tears welling in her eyes " she did not want to be stuck with such a rude person. To his greatest surprise, after she said that, everything unfroze. Everything went back to normal, like as if the earth was not on a standstill before. The Grim Reaper was shocked
" Did she just command ?" he said with disbelief " I'm hundred percent sure she's human" he asked himself
Martin stood up and held her by the shoulder
" No need to stare at her that way" Martin told him
' She even froze a Luth! What is she?' The Grim reaper thought internally
" What brought you here?" Martin asked Ava
" Didn't you see what just happened?" She asked in fear
"What happened??" Martin asked her " Are you alright?"
" I don't know" she fearfully answered
" What brought you here, Ava" Martin asked again "Are you fine?"
" I have a recording from the incident at the Pyengong intersection"
" You do?" Martin asked surprised " How??"
" My brother was present at the incident. He recorded it but his phone screen is not so good"
" I'll fix it, let me take a look at the recording" Martin turned to face the Grim reaper " This is what we've been looking for. Let's go inside"
Inside, they connected the phone to the system and watched everything that had happened in full length. Ava was surprised at what she saw, that man that was moving so fast could not have been human, what was she seeing things these days?
" Who or what is that?" She asked surprised
" That is a fallen angel that later became a demon" Ava's eyes widened as she listened to the grim reaper " They feed off the souls and blood of humans"
" Is that why he goes about killing?" Ava asked
" They kill until they find the blood of 'The one'" Martin answered
" The one? Who is that?" Ava was lost, she would understand if the strange man knew about this stuff but why was Martin answering as if he was used or know these things
" They kill until they find the blood if the one that can make them Immortal. When they fell, they became wasted, they have to regenerate their skin in order to stay fresh. Once in a while, the burn in their closet and until they find the person's blood that can free them of that, they'll remain that way"
" And if they don't? What happens??" Ava asked intruiged
" They keep killing and killing and killing feeding off temporary souls and blood that relieves them from their pain"
" So more people are going to die??" She shouted
" We'll keep having cases like this, they are super strong and coming against a demon is hard, they possess the bodies of humans which makes it even hard to fight them" Martin answered and the Grim Reaper nodded in approval
" Why do you know so much about this thing?" Ava asked Martin and he was surprised
" Well, I read a lot"
" That's not what I mean, you talk like as if you've experienced this, like you've encountered one" Ava said demanding an answer, she really did not know what to believe
" That's absurd. He's my friend, he tells me stuffs like these" Martin sad pointing at the grim reaper
" Me?" The grim reaper was shocked
Ava looked at the both of them and sighed.
" Stop playing with me. I was an investigative reporter for years, I know when something's off"
" If you were an investigative reporter for years and you failed to recognize who he is since you've been friends, doesn't it mean you've just been bad at your job?" The grim reaper asked scoffing
" You're sick" she got annoyed, took her phone and went out
" Ava, Ava" Martin stood up to chase after her but she had left
" What is wrong with you" Martin asked him
" How is that my fault, you're the one who kept the secret from her calling her your friend"
" You're really something" Martin scoffed.
Ava was so angry and she didn't even know why, she felt cheated, strange, weird and stupid. Was she actually seeing things? Was she overreacting?? She didn't know but one thing was for sure, Martin was hiding something from her . She bumped into someone, she looked yo and saw it was officer Joel.
" Are you alright, miss??"
" Yes, I'm fine"
