" Hello" Ava waved with a smile that warmed his heart. He smiled and waved back .
" I thought you'd be at work" Martin asked when they were seated
" I quit" She drank her coffee after answering
" Why didn't you apply for another company then??"
" I was fired" she chuckled
" I don't understand" Martin asked confused
" I was actually fired by my boss and then I quit because I was angry"
" Then you were fired" he laughed and drank his coffee
" Are you laughing??" She asked amused
" Nope" he lied " Does it look like I'm laughing"
" It's funny, isn't it" she smiled " but that's me at the moment and I can't work anywhere else in the whole country" On hearing this , Martin stopped laughing
" Hey, look at me" and she did " it's alright, everything gonna be fine, who the hell needs a media house when you could cover and report individually? You got this, you've always been a pro at this" he smiled
" How many ladies have you charmed with this smile??" She asked " love the encouragement though, it's a nice idea but it's risky"
" Wish I could charm you" Martin mumbled
" Did you say something?"
" No, I didn't . In as much as I'd love to stay, I'll have to leave now Ava. Don't stay out for too long and get home safely" he patted her head . She got up and gave him a hug. She may not have noticed but that single act, made his heart race like crazy . His body froze as he inhaled her natural scent. She smelled like flowers, cool flowers in the gentle breeze. Her small and frail arms wrapped around his body made him feel calm and cozy. He didn't know when or how, but he felt like he was developing a thing for this human, right from the very moment they met in college.
" Thank you Martins" she detached herself from the hug " I'll consider what you told me today . Bye" she looked at her brother who was playing video games at the far end " Dan, let's go"
Martin watched her leave. He was still standing there until someone interrupted him
