32But unfortunately, soon things began to become different from what I was expected. I was fine at the bank but Caserta was constantly changing and getting worse. That Caserta I once called "sad and deserted" now seemed immersed in a terrible chaos, not very reassuring. It was populated every day (and more and more) by soldiers belonging to the various weapons and specialties: infantry, artillery, tanks, etc. ... In short, it was expected, at any moment, the outbreak of war that had long tormented many nations. And it just did not take for poor humanity, already so troubled. But "against the force reason is not worth." Men showed little inclination towards peace and, above all, they sought to achieve power and wealth at any cost and by any means. In our country, things took a bad turn.
