We woke up around 8:30 a.m. with a fog of sadness and pessimism taking over the room, we all stayed in silence "enjoying" the catastrophe that our trip would be. The only one who was excited was Sophia, who was pacing up and down the room in her famous panda overalls with her good old cell phone, scheduling a thousand tours of the pyramids, archeological sites, and whatever else there was to do with Ancient Egypt and its mysteries, which was no surprise since she was the best in the room when the subject was Egyptian mythology, While I was drowning in a bag of fluffy marshmallows, Fanny was devouring for the fifteenth time her beloved book entitled Fallen, Leide was face down in her cell phone as usual, and Jojo was already sitting on the bed with her arsenal of eyeshadows, foundations, and other Chanel products lying around.
- People, to the world I want to go down. I have news for you," says Sophia standing in front of my bed trying to contain her excitement as if she had just won the world's biggest chicken and catupiry drumstick, and by the way, drumsticks are delicious!
- Did you manage to fix the mess Zuleide made? -I say without taking my eyes off my mawshmelow bag.
- No, better! - she says in an enthusiastic tone and with an ambitious look, as if she were about to burst with emotion.
- Are we going to a five-star hotel? -Jojo says without taking her eyes away from the mirror and her compact powder.
- No, better yet. -Sophia said, still excited.
- Stop being so suspenseful and tell us what your big news is! -Speaks Fanny, putting down her book and looking at Sophia with disinterest in both her eyes and her voice.
- I agree with Fanny, just say what you want at once! - I speak in an impatient tone, looking at Sophia who is now standing beside me, staring at my bag of marshmallows.
- Wow, are you guys this grumpy or did you take a class? -Sophia quickly took out my bag of fluffy marshmallows.
- Hey, give them back! My mom gave me these marshmallows when I was packing my bags to end up in this end of life called Cairo!
- For your information, Cairo is one of the five largest cities in the world, and I didn't tell her to bring marshmallows and even worse, not to share them with her friends, especially if one of them is compulsive for sweets! -She says, attacking the five colored marshmallows that were still in the bag. -But anyway, I didn't solve Zuleide's stunt, but I managed to book a tour to the pyramids of Giza, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, isn't that amazing?
-Sophia says, sitting, or rather, throwing herself on the bed I shared with Fanny.
- Wow, what a great trip, too bad I have a date with my five bags of jujubes with one kilo each, I'm also going to say hello to my seven milk chocolate bars and besides that, I still have to pay attention to my nine boxes of chocolates, which I brought in my suitcase, so, girlfriend, it's not going to work!
- This way you will get diabetes girl, eat some fruit! -Fanny says, looking disgusted.
- Fanny friend, I promise that when I get to Manhattan I will spend five months eating salad!
- Guys, stop the drama, I know everyone wanted to go to Miami, but unfortunately it didn't work out, and if we stay here in this room it won't improve the situation. -Sophia says in her moment of daily wisdom.
- Yeah, I have to admit, you're right Soph, so get up, you lazy slobs, before I pour a gallon of water on your faces! -I say, getting out of bed.
- Wow, that's so sweet Bibi! You deserve an Oscar! -Speaks Fanny in a disdainful tone.
-I've always been loved, don't you realize? -I say, still standing beside the bed.
Two hours later we were back in another black and white pseudo-taxi that luckily didn't have a crater in the floor, but the car stank of sweat and the driver looked at us with a look of malice.
The trip to the city of Giza, 6.2 kilometers from Cairo, where the pyramids are located, was chaotic again, the only difference being that it only lasted thirty minutes. Luckily we arrived alive and with all our belongings in hand. Then we took a crowded van to the pyramids and, amazingly, the city seems to have been growing around it, I know it's very difficult to imagine cars, buildings and asphalt in that perimeter, but that's the reality; if you google the following headline: "Pyramids of Giza: one of the seven wonders of the ancient world" and access the story in the newspaper "Epoch Times" published on 12/13/13 at 6: 13 AM and updated at 6:34 AM of the same day, you will see in the third image provided from the report, the city growing towards the pyramids, perhaps this is because of the fact that, most people in Giza don't care that UNESCO has titled that the pyramids are a world heritage site or that they are one of the seven wonders of the Ancient World. But anyway, after about ten or fifteen minutes I think, we managed to get into the pyramid of Chephren, which for those who don't know is the middle one, we started going up a very steep staircase even with handrails made of varnished orange wood. After more than fifty steps we reached a room made of light beige walls, almost white like the rest of the pyramid's interior with a kind of altar made of black stone where I believe the sarcophagus of some pharaoh was. Jojo, Fanny and I were looking at the altar when we heard a noise of rock moving behind us, we turned Sophia and Leide were standing in front of a square hole that had opened in the wall behind us.
- You crazy women, what have you done? Now we are going to be arrested for defiling a world heritage site! - I speak as I get closer to her.
- It was Zuleide who put her back to the wall and then it opened. -Sophia says, raising her hands as if trying to say "I'm innocent! ".
-It had to be Zuleide, are you an old donkey to be rubbing your back all over the place?
- Oh Bibi, I didn't know this was going to happen, it was an accident, I'm sorry. - Begs Leide.
- It's always an accident... - Fanny says ironically.
- Zuleide if I go to jail, lose my job and have to wear that horrible prison uniform I will kill you! - says Jojo angrily.
- Hey girls, how about if we go inside? - Sophia says with curiosity in her voice without taking her eyes off the secret passage.
- Are you crazy Sophia? Do you want to die? Everyone knows that pyramids have traps, could it be that this passage is a trap too? Sorry, but I'm not in the mood to die. - I say, crossing my arms.
- Let's go, stop being afraid, there might be some treasure in there! - Sophia says taking the first step towards the newly opened dark corridor.
-Sophia better not, I have a bad feeling, it's serious, let's get out of here and pretend nothing happened. - I speak holding her arm and trying to control the fear that rises in my throat.
- Stop it Bibi, where is your spirit of adventure, we have an opportunity to turn this trip into the most exciting thing we have ever lived and you are running scared. - Sophia turned to me and let go of my hands.
- Sophia, this is not a good idea! - I say watching her walk down that dark hallway.
- Guys, come on, stop being afraid, it will be fun! - Encourages Sophia.
And so, with those last three little words we entered that dark hallway with only the lights from our cell phones guiding the passage. Twenty steps later, we came to a small room with brown stone walls and a total of six torches, two on each wall, which to this date I have no idea how they stayed lit for so many centuries, since the three pyramids were built to serve as tombs for the pharaohs Cheops, Chephren, and Miquerinos, But going back to my description, when we looked to the sides our jaws dropped with the number of jewels, stones, precious and gold that were on the floor, there were also some Hieroglyphs and a table made of black stone very small at waist height with a simple crystal cup like those used to drink wine.
When I entered the room I got goose bumps, there was something very strange there, and besides that I had a voice inside my head saying that staying there was not a good idea, but it was too late, we had already entered and seen that incredible treasure.
- Wow, look at this! - Sophia said, looking sideways with a surprised expression in her eyes.
- Guys, look at this cup! - Sophia says with the cup in hand.
-Sophia puts it back, this cup is a UNESCO heritage site as well as this entire pyramid. - I speak taking the cup from her hand and putting it in its proper place.
- Oh Bibi, stop being such a pain in the a*s, it's like it's a crime to even hold this dull cup.
- Let me see this cup" Leide says, taking the cup from Jojo's hand. - Too simple to be from Ancient Egypt, I don't know, it looks like a normal wine glass.
- Leide, give me this cup so I can put it back before you break it and make a huge mess for all of us. - Fanny says trying to take the cup from Leide's hands.
- All right, take this cup soon," says Zuleide as she carelessly hands it over, or rather, practically throws the cup into Fanny's hands, who in turn can't catch it and ends up dropping the cup, breaking it into a thousand pieces.
- What have you done? That was a piece of world history, which is now in pieces! Don't you two have any brains? You clumsy fools! -Sophia says, red with rage.
- I'm sorry, it was an accident, I swear to you! -Speaks Zuleide in her defense.
- You're sorry? Is that the only thing you can say after causing such an astronomical disaster? How are we going to solve this? It's not enough that you took all of us to the wrong flight deck and stuck us in this thing we happen to call Cairo, full of Muslims who look at us like we're a bunch of aliens, now you also have to destroy a world heritage site! - Sophia shouts.
- Guys, stop the drama, it was just a stupid cup! -Jojo says in a disdainful tone and with her hands on her waist.
- Jolie, could you be a little less stuck up? I bet if it was one of your Chanel shades or one of your Louis Vutton shoes you'd be crying, now you selfish b***h! -speaks angrily Sophia
- Stop fighting with Jojo, it's all my fault, people, I'm the one who dropped the cup.
- Stop this arguing, please! We are best friends and we shouldn't be arguing like this, no one knows that the cup was intact and even less that this place exists except for the five of us, if we go back and keep it a secret the archeologists will come here and think that the cup was already broken! There is no reason to fight! And Fanny friend, it wasn't all your fault, if Zuleide hadn't been so clumsy and had almost thrown the cup in your hand none of this would have happened, don't be sad friend. -Falo was already tired of so many people being offended at the same time.
- Okay, this will be our secret! - says Jojo calming down.
- Okay, let's promise that we will never mention this again! -Sophia says and they all agree only with mumbles.
- Troptur viagens, bom dia. –Fala Cristal.
