CHAPTER 39
The words hit me like a physical blow, stealing the breath from my lungs and making the world around me spin dangerously while my heart hammered against my ribs so hard I thought it might burst. I stopped caring about the people walking, running, asking for help, the nurses calling codes, the squeak of shoes on linoleum. None of it mattered. Wala na akong pakialam sa paligid ko, ang gusto ko lang ngayon ay maging maayos ang Mama ko.
I don't know what to do anymore. I am panicking. Tears endlessly pouring into my eyes. Pabalik-balik ako, uupo, tatayo upang sumilip sa ER, tapos iiyak. I do it simultaneously. Wala akong pakialam kung mahilo ako kakaikot- I just want to make sure that my mother is safe, that the operation is safe.
