Chapter 4

Jem was sulking in the limousine as he looked outside, the trees flashing by in a blur. He turned to face his siblings, a scowl on his face. "See! I knew moving here was the worst thing we could have done." Alexander rolled his eyes as he looked out of the window instead. Jem’s scowl deepened. "Wow, asshole, thanks," Micah deadpanned as he glared at Jem. Micah had dark brown hair, with brown eyes and was considerably shorter than the rest of them; it was what had attracted Jem to him. Micah was just small and cute, although he had learned that he had quite a mouth on him. "I've known you for like an hour," Jem shot back, and Micah rolled his eyes. "If you don't watch it, that hour will be the only time you'll know me.” "Is it wise having an omega in a car full of alphas?" Alexander asked as he peeled his eyes from the window to look at Micah. And the glare Micah gave him had Jem snickering. "I'm perfectly capable of looking after myself. Thank you very much." "Boy, have you ever had your coming-of-age ceremony?" Alexander shot back. Jem looked over at Micah. He wanted to know if Micah had found his mate. "No. I won't turn eighteen for another two weeks." "Grandfather, I'm telling you, this isn't smart. If he goes into heat-" Alexander began, staring at grandfather, who was looking out of the window. "Finish that sentence and I'll stab you," Micah deadpanned. He pulled a knife out from somewhere and pointed it toward Alexander. "Jem, you need better friends," Alexander said, facing his younger brother, who held an amused expression. "No, he doesn't. I love Micah. We're keeping him," Rosalyn said as she hugged Micah, who had just made a face before pushing her away. "I miss everyone at home," Jem whined, thinking back to everyone he knew from his previous home. More specifically, he missed Ren. "Oh, you just miss your toys," Rosalyn said as she rolled her eyes. She then looked at her dress and glared daggers at it. "Oh, and you don't?" Jem retorted, and she sucked her teeth. “What about Jasmine? Let’s not forget Brad.” "Both my siblings are w****s,” Alexander deadpanned, scowling as he had been forced to listen to his younger siblings’ s*x lives. "Grandad!" Rosalyn whined as she looked at her grandfather, who was eyeing his grandchildren. He sighed a little, took the bottle of vodka from under his seat, and took a big chug. Jem was aware his grandfather was a little alcoholic. It was his coping method, and they didn't try to change it. He was comfortable drinking, so they let him. They all knew they were a handful. "Alexander, don't call your siblings w****s. Even if they are." "Grandad!" Jem yelled, and Alexander simply snickered. "What? Sleep around all you want. I don't care. Just don't get pregnant." All eyes were on Rosalyn, and she looked offended as she scoffed. "I'm not that stupid." The limousine quietened when all eyes landed on their father, who was sleeping. It was apparent he had been crying. "Is he going to be okay?" Micah asked, pointing in the general direction of their father. Before any of them could answer, Micah’s phone went off. He answered, looking around and inwardly groaning. Was he looking for privacy? "Hey, mum," he said. All three siblings tried to appear as if they were interested in something else, but they had their ears glued to the conversation. "Hi, honey. When will you be home? I want to sleep and as much as I love him, he's driving me insane. He won't let me sleep." Jem pursed his lips. Micah knew they could all hear him and the other side of the conversation, and he almost felt bad. Almost. "Now, I'll be back soon to pick him up. Just keep him a little longer. I'm almost there," he said, and he hung up after saying his goodbyes. The car was quiet. "Oh, what? I know you all have questions. I can feel you all burning your eyes into me," he said, throwing his hands up in annoyance. "Who's he?" Jem said. "Why's he with your mother?" Rosalyn asked. "Why didn't she come to the ball?" Alexander said. "f*****g hell. You are all nosey," he grumbled. But he didn't say anything else. "Well?" Alexander said, and he sighed. "He is Will. Will is my kid." The siblings held the same expression, one of shock and curiosity. Micah turned to his left. “Thanks,” he said as he took the vodka bottle from their grandfather and took a huge gulp, wincing as the drink burned his throat. "Oh, we're definitely keeping him. He has balls. I like him,” Rosalyn said, a grin on her face as she eyed Micah affectionately. Micah wanted this over and done with, so he said it. "I was r***d when I was 14." He didn't expand further, and no one asked any other questions. "So, about your dad," he said after they had been in somewhat awkward silence for almost five minutes, even grandad didn’t say anything, but that might have been because he was too fuzzy to function. He had smelt the Moonshine mixed in with the vodka. Jem inwardly scoffed at his father’s appearance and then felt guilty because he was still his father and he was being petty. Being timid was just who he was. "Is it even possible to have a second mate?" Rosalyn said, looking over at her grandfather. "Were they even mates, to begin with?" Jem asked, and Grandfather nodded. "They were. At the beginning of their relationship, they were happy. They were. And they were happy when they had you two," he said, motioning to the older two. "Then, what? They stopped being happy when they had me," Jem said, and Warren’s eyes widened as he looked at his youngest grandchild. "No, that's now what I mean," he said, but Jem could tell it was exactly what he meant. "What is he going to do?" Jem asked. "Who? His d**k of a mate?" Alexander said, and he nodded. "If he really wants to reject him, he'll have to do it on the full moon," Rosalyn said. She made a face and then snickered a little. "Sorry, my Wolf. She can be pretty funny when she wants to be." "My Wolf says that your Wolf is a weird creature," Alexander said, and Rosalyn snickered and then made a face. Micah watched Jem. Jem knew he wanted to know about his wolf. But no. He wasn't stupid. "So a month. We just had the full moon," Micah said. "Ah, that sucked. How can anyone handle being rejected by the one destined to love you forever." "What will happen?" Jem said. He had never seen anyone reject their mate, so he was interested in the process. Alexander shrugged. "It depends on the moon goddess-" "Either she'll accept it or she won't. And if she doesn't, she won't let them have another mate. They'll be forced to be mates; if she does, they will have new mates on the next new moon," Micah finished, and he seemed pretty proud of himself too. “Oh, I want to add that although any two wolves who do not want to be mates, the request is usually accepted. However, she can deny them, albeit rare.” Jem nodded. So, his father had to hope the moon goddess accepted the plea. Surely, how hard could that be? ~*~
