Jem froze. It was the first time his wolf was speaking to him. He looked over at Grey, who had sensed the presence but hadn’t commented. He slipped his hand into Jem’s with a soft smile as the two continued walking.
‘You don’t get to decide if I keep my mate or not,’ Wolf snapped. His voice was raspy from disuse, but even now, with their final conversation having been an argument, he found comfort in his voice.
‘He’s my mate too,’ Jem responded.
