The door was pushed open and Abigail entered looking fresh, her eyes lit up like the morning sun when she saw Lilly, "you are awake!" She approached the bed immediately and Shane stood up to give them room to talk. He walked back to the chair and picked his laptop just as his phone started ringing. He answered the call and talked briefly with the caller before hanging up.
He turned to the mother and daughter who were chatting happily, "I'm sorry, I have to run out a bit. But I will be back in the evening," he smiled to Lilly whose expression had already saddened, "don't worry, I will be back before you know it."
