Chapter 15

Jaydeen was woken up by the sound of the phone ringing. She was a little disoriented when she opened her eyes, she then sits up and looks around before picking up the call. 

“Hello” she says sounding a little groggy

“Breakfast in an hour, the meeting has been moved up to 12 so no need to rush, you can go about town do some shopping or whatever but please don’t be late” a familiar voice said from the other side.

“Thanks” she says then cuts the phone.

She gets off the bed and stretches herself then heads for the shower. She takes a nice hot shower and lets herself soak in the steam and as she does she wonders what the day held and if she was going to survive especially with the current state of her and JR’s relationship.

When she finishes she walks out with a towel wrapped around herself and one on her head and sits on the bed then picks up her phone.

She sees unread messages then smiles because one of them is from Mike who was checking on her. The other one is from her mother who was also checking on her plus a long voice note from her mother pleading with her to dress appropriately as not only her reputation but that of the family was on the line.

Jaydeen rolls her eyes at this then puts her phone down before opening her bag and trying to decide what she should wear.

She chooses the skirt and top combination Mike had pointed to her the first time and smiles as she thinks back to the time. She then sits in front of the mirror and applies some light make up and lipstick before she ties her hair neatly in a bun, grabs her bag and walks out.

Breakfast was an array of delicacies and fresh fruits. Jaydeen sits on a corner table where she hopes she will not be spotted by anyone. She checks her phone and replies to messages as she eats. 

Her phone rings its JR, she rolls her eyes before she answers.

“I’ll meet you there, I have a few things I need to take care of before I come” he says before she even says anything. In the background Jaydeen hears a woman’s voice calling JR back to bed.

“Duty calls gotta go” he says then cuts the phone.

Jaydeen shakes her head then continues eating her food in silence before a waiter comes up to her with a tray of food.

“Err I did not order any food” she says looking up at the waiter a little confused.

“Compliments from the chef” he says with a smile.

“Oh, but are you sure its for me? “ she says

“You are Ms Jaydeen are you not?” 

“Yes, but how did you know?” she says looking around.

“We were advised to look out for you” he says

“Thank you but…” she does not get to finish because another waiter comes holding a huge bouquet of tulips

“For you madam” he says 

Jaydeen is visibly chuffed, “Wow” she says as she opens the little card. “Our tulips should kiss…Pierre” the note says which makes Jaydeen blush even more.

The waiters walk away and Jaydeen smiles as she re reads the note half not believing how to the point Pierre is with his intentions and half surprised that she is actually looking forward to it.

She then eats her breakfast and picks up her flowers when she is done.

“Excuse me ma’am” the receptionist says as she is passing. “These came for you” she says handing her another bunch of flowers

“They are for me?”

“Yes” she says smiling

“Thanks but can I come back for them cause I kind of have my hands full right now” she says showing the other bunch.

“No worries I will get someone to bring them up to your room shortly” the receptionist says

“Thank you that would be great” Jaydeen says as she heads for the elevator.

She walks in and leans against the wall then looks at herself in the elevator mirror and smiles.

“Is this really happening?” she says looking at her own reflection. She then smiles to herself.

She puts the flowers down and stands by the balcony and takes in the beautiful view of the city as well as the sounds. There is a gentle knock on her door and she opens it and receives the other bigger bunch of flowers from one of the hotel staff.

“Thank you” she says.

“Can I bring you a vase for the other flowers?” the man says 

“That will be great thank you” Maxine says.

She then takes the little note and reads it “Can’t wait to see you later tonight” it says. She throws herself on her bed and bites her lips as she thinks back to the night that was. She then gets up grabs her bag and walks out.

Jaydeen opts to take a walk instead of making use of the designated driver.

“I just want to acquaint myself with the city and the surroundings. Can I call you at about 11” she says to the driver

“Sure madam, you can even call me earlier if you need anything” he says politely.

“I will she says as she walks out”

Jaydeen walks down the road smiling at herself as she remembers walking down the same streets before only in a more casual attire. She enters a few shops and tries on a few things before she chooses the shoes she wants.

After some time she heads back to the hotel where she quickly changes her shoes into some high heeled red bottoms then gets into the car and head off to the meeting venue. She feels nervous as she approaches, she passes by the bathroom then powders her face fixes her clothes, strokes her hair back before she walks out and is led to the meeting room.

The door is slightly open and she spots JR looking as good as ever is a fitted tailor made suit chatting. She enters and the room momentarily goes quiet as everyone looks her direction. Jaydeen looks back at everyone and smiles but her heart almost stops when there talking to JR is Pierre.
