Chapter 11 The Colony

     The next morning I knew I was in trouble, I could barely move. I had to go I had no choice. I made it to the water. I hoped sitting there for a little while would help. I was in the water for about an hour and a half before I heard voices. As soon as I heard the voices I got out of the water and headed toward the road. Since the voices were on the other side of the river I knew I had some time because the water was ringed by tightly packed bushes and some trees.  I knew I had maybe ten minutes because they had to go around the bushes and trees to get to me. As I got to the road I heard a car behind me. I was so scared it way them I really didn't want to look. As the vehicle pulled up next to me I started to cry it was the purple truck I had been watching for so long. I waved to the driver and I was lucky he stopped for me. I told him I was trying to get to the village to see Marcus and Kara. I figured if I gave both names the it would go better. At first he gave me a strange look but then he told me to get in. As we went up the road he kept glancing at me. Finally he asked , "Are you alright?" I looked at him and said, "To be honest I feel like hell. I thought I was dehydrated but now I'm not so sure." When we stopped at a gate he pulled out his phone and made a call. I couldn't help not hearing what he said,"Listen I have a young lady here asking for Marcus and Kara. She doesn't look to good. I don't want to leave her here there is a truck starting up the road. I am afraid she will fall over if I let her out. What do I do?" After a little bit he hung up the phone and we started going further up the mountain. At one point he made a sharp right turn onto a path that was so small I couldn't even see it. The trees were so close that if I had the energy to stick my arm out the window I would have been able to touch the passing trees. We drove ten minutes till we came to another gate. There was a car on the other side. He opened my door and helped me to the other car. And he said," Sorry I don't know your name." Its Megan sorry."" Don't be sorry, Megan meet Kara. Kara this is Megan." I smiled as she helped me to her car. She turned to the man and said, I called Marcus he is waiting for you. Watch that truck they are the people after her. We need to get her stuff brought here before they figure out its hers. And we don't need them finding it or her so get it here as quick as you can. Marcus has the keys to her car so get it back here as soon as you can. Thanks for everything, see you later."

     As he drove back the way he came in, we drove through a small town. After a minute or two we made it to her house. She helped me out of the car. We started to cross the little bridge over the water when I asked, "Can I please just sit in the water for a minute, please?"" Are you sure?"" Yes I will feel better in a minute. ""Lets do this, you look like your going to pass out, come over here and lay down.""What?"  She took me to a little area to the left of the walk and lifted a lid. I thought is was great a bed in the water. I looked at her and said, "Yes please."  She helped me over to the side and I laid down.  She pulled over a chair and sat next to me. 

     "So you have been in hiding for eight months now. How long have you felt like this?"" Just this last month ."" And how long ago was it that you and Marcus were together?"" The first time was about a month and a half ago why? I can't believe he told you that."" I'm his mother honey, he didn't tell me that. He just told me he bonded with you."" Okay, I'm sorry I don't understand what you mean."" It's alright we will explain it more later. But when our people bond it usually means s*x is involved."" Oh my god so what are you thinking is wrong?"" I know Marcus said you were well prepared but did you have condoms?" No why?"" Honey you must really feel bad if you don't get it."" Sorry I feel really really tired and dehydrated."" Megan honey your pregnant"" What but!!!!"" What you are going through are like the side affects. Does Marcus know?"" I didn't even know. I thought I was dehydrated since its been so hot. And normally I usually spend all of my free time in the water at the beach.. Or I had the flu maybe."" So this is the first summer you have spent out of the water? Interesting."" I'm sorry I don't get it."" Why don't you rest, when Marcus comes home we can talk about it. Also I think I should get one of our doctors over here to look at you."" Is that wise I don't think I should be here."" Don't worry I will talk to out leader.""Your what?"" He is like our mayor but with more power."" Oh great, Okay do what ever you have to I guess. Can I please have a drink?"" Yes of course, I will be right back."

     When she came back she gave me a glass of juice. It did make me feel a bit better. I fell asleep, she closed the lid so I don't get sun burnt. Then went inside to make a few calls and wait.
