Chapter 10 In Hiding Month 8

     August was in the high 90's low 100's. I have never had an issue with the heat before all I would do is get in the water. It helped but something was off. During that first week I went to get supplies. I went to Walmart at 2:00 a.m knowing no one would be there.This time I got my usual supplies as well as four cases of water two cases of Powerade and two cases of  gaderade. I thought I might be dehydrated.

     After getting back to my spot I put everything away the took several bottles are water and powerade to bed with me.

     The next morning I was woke up by me tent being opened from the outside. For a minute I froze. Then I grabbed the bat I always keep next to me. As I prepared to swing I realized it was Marcus. I smiled and put the bat down, but before I could say anything he put his hand over my mouth and his finger to his lips. I understood shook my head and he turned to zip up the tent. Then he crawled over to me and kissed me.

     Now what happened next I didn't think about till much later. The whole time we were kissing we were talking to each other.

     "Don't make any noise, they are not far off. Three of them are wondering the woods now. Try to keep your mind blank. Think of an empty clearing."

     I could see what he wanted in my head. So we ended the kiss and sat at waited. Sure enough. maybe three minutes later we heard them crashing through the bush. They were mad I could hear it in the way they yelled at each other.

     "Why are we doing this Jeb? We don't get paid enough to go tromping through the woods and bushes. I am so tired of this. We have been doing it for months. That little b***h had to of left the state by now."" Be quiet Max is he hears you complaining again he is going to be pissed."" I don't care we only saw her once months ago. We haven't seen her since. And we have been up and down the coast so many times. Three states Jeb I think she is gone."" Just be quiet Max he said this would be the last area we would be checking."" Yes but we have been checking all month and all we have seen way that one hiker by the river this morning. And these woods are huge."" Just shut up Max. Lets go there is nothing here. Lets just move on. He wants to head up the mountain next."" Fine lets go."

     We sat silently for a few more minutes till we heard the car leave. Then I let out my breathe and asked, "Were you the hiker they were talking about?"" Yes that's why I couldn't come back sooner. I have been following their progress."" I figures it was something like that. They said you were hiking, have you always been close and I never say you?"" Yes I'm so sorry I could feel your distress but I didn't want to lead them to you."" I wouldn't call it distress I just missed you."" I missed you to. How are you feeling? You don't look right."" I think I am just dehydrated. You know its been really hot the last few days."" Yea I knew. Do I need to bring you water or anything? I want to help."" Your already helping. Your keeping them away."" Yes but I want to do more. I want you with me."" I'm not sure that's a good idea yet."" Well when your ready I am not that far away. Actually my people are in the village about a mile up the road. You can't miss it we are the only people there. but it is a closed community so you will have to ask for me before they will let you in."" But they just went up the mountain today."" Don't worry I wont let them get to you. I promise no one will hurt you."" I think I should stay here for a little while longer, I don't want to cause your people any issues."" Sweetheart you wouldn't be causing any problems. None of this is your fault."" It's just as well I should stay here just a little longer, I really don't want any trouble."" All right and if I am not there ask for Kara she is my mother. She will let you in I have already told her about you."" Oh great, now I'm not sure I want to go at all."" Are you scared?"" Yea well maybe a little, What if she don't like me? What if she doesn't think I am good enough for you because of everything that is going on?"" Don't worry so much she will love you because I love you. She already knows about everything you have been through. She also thinks your mother is crazy, stupid, and selfish for everything she has put you through."" Oh my god really, she hasn't even met me yet. I don't know what to say."" Don't say anything just know she will protect you as much as I will."" Thank you so much. I love you."" I love you to."" But I still think I should stay here for a little while longer. Maybe a week or so that way I know they have had enough time to look and move on. I just don't want to cause trouble for anyone else."" Okay what ever makes you feel safe and happy."" You do."

     And that was the end of any kind of talking for the next few hours. As before our time ended with his alarm going off. I was very sad our time had to end. And to be honest I really wanted to go with him. But in the end I stayed where I was. I really did enjoy our time together. He wasn't happy about going.  We shared one last kiss before he left.

     Later I started feeling bad again. I got in the water again, it helped a little bit. As the month ended This feeling got worse. I only felt better in the water. I drank as much water as I could, I stayed in the water till late at night. I was really starting to get scared. It was at 2:30 in the morning while I was sitting in the water that I decided I needed to get to Marcus and his mom because something was wrong. I finally pulled myself out of the water and went to bed. I had a lot to do tomorrow.
